Nigeria was due for hard times before Buhari took over but Buhari's actions and inactions compounded the difficulties. For instance, the decision to fix the exchange rate exacerbated the dollar scarcity problem, accelerating capital flight. According to the government's own data, the economy started contracting in 2016, almost a year after Buhari assumed the presidency. Having taken over leadership, he exercised no sense of urgency in dealing with the dire economic situation and took months to appoint ministers who help set and implement policies. The list of issues the OP has made were already known when Buhari was promising heaven and earth to Nigerians (stabilising exchange rate, reducing unemployment, e.t.c). It is no good coming now to state that Nigerians have too high expectations when Buhari and his supporters were at the forefront of setting sky high expectations of what he can accomplish. 21 Likes 1 Share |

progress69: Lol @ lie daily on NL I am not for PDP nor am I against APC. I am just a citizen who demand accountability from people saddle with governance responsibilities I agree that he is not a magician and he shouldn't be expected to perform magic. All I am saying is that it's time this blame game stopped. It's his job to keep the economy afloat...receiving applause or otherwise depend on how well he delivers on that. Yeah, in the face of the recent storm, I would say the current scorecard on non oil sector looks plausible, howbeit, much is expected. Yeah. Oil inflow is subjected to global oil price and stability in the ND. However, I believe much still need to be done with regards to the non-oil sector...for instance, do you think the VAID is gonna do the expected job with regards to ultimately improving tax revenue? Do you think focusing on Debt-GDP ratio over the alarming cost of servicing the debt is the way to look at the borrowing spree? What is your take on the current or just released unemployment rate by NBS? Are you aware of what the high interest rate is doing to the SMEs? 3 Likes

Look at where scums congregate to fool themselves. Buhari just appointed atleast 3 dead men into his govt, yet you can never see these scums on that very important thread. And yet they wonder and wonder why sane people hold Buhari responsible for Nigeria's sharp economic decline. 11 Likes |

Stycon:you are much more sensible to have a discuss with than the other clowns we see daily on this forum! Bill Clinton blamed, Bush blamed, Obama blamed, the orange man in white house is still blaming. That is politics. This did not stop any of them from carrying out their presidential duties, so as it not stop Buhari from carrying out his. Job loss is expected when a country plunges into recession. During the global recession, there was job loss everywhere, America and others didn't pull out of that overnight, took years to build what was lost back. We are gradually moving, and we will get there. But to bring PDP back, Never!!!!!!. 5 Likes |

All these APC goons that opened and are commenting on this thread if you guys can tell your self some honest truth....you all should know buhari administration has been full of excuses and below par. All the worst they told us that would have happened if GEJ administration had continued still happened....those situations are too numerous to mention. A problem solver would still get things done even if the materials that is available to do the job is withdrawn from him, he cracks his brains and get a way around the lack of materials to get the job done.... But a bad administrator will complain from day one and at the end will give a below par permomance. You guys should watch designated survivor(series) to see how presidential office is supposed to be runned. Nigeria deserve better running of a government...Buhari admin is far from it. 9 Likes 1 Share |

progress69: Nigga there is no nemesis here, forget that ideology they have been teaching you guys at BMC training....the now stale 16yrs of pdp slogan What Nigeria needs is a modern technocrat....that is very intelligent, that rolls up his sleeves like ambode to solve problems and is a very good leader, it doesn't matter the party.....not the one waiting on oil price to go up. A bad Carter democrat administration was good during Clinton administration...the same democrat party. 8 Likes |

DLondonboiy: The recession of 1982...started when oil prices crashed in 1982....and it led to Shagari's govt trying to bring in austerity measures in 1983. When Buhari took over on December 31, 1983...the situation was already bad...and the NPN govt had made things worse. When IBB threw out Bubu in 1985....the situation got worse..until oil prices improved in 1990/91(Gulf oil windfall). Bubu did not manage the crisis of the 1980's well, but he did try to improve domestic production...among other things. And he wasn't the cause...blame the NPN. 2 Likes 1 Share |
