7000÷18=380 to 390 per plant.hmmmm!
is it not somehow!since egbin is 1000mw plus
egbon made up of several smaller turbines. Rare to see any plant over 700mw but one can stack 70 100mw turbines
Or 700 10 mw
Or some 250rs or some 50 mw
ones
They will not all be equal 390 gerege

Let this "development" not be another albino elephant project. Men in power in Nigeria have no honor to deliver good things to the people. Come to think of it, how does a lawyer generate electricity for a country?

Good News!
With a project like this the ND is unifying in ways that no jealous group can put a check to.
When built, the ND and FG will be forced to negotiate power transmission terms as the ND won't want their power pumped into the national grid for others to use cheaply. This should force the whole ND(and her close neighbours sw & se) to remain on one side and grow together.
NDDC is a FG agency go n sleep

Plans to build a power station in Chita were drawn up in the early 1960s, with the first unit coming on line in February 1966. A total of six units were built to power the cities of Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya Metropolis.
Units 1-4 were modernized and converted to be able to burn natural gas in 1985, whereas Units 5-6 were designed for use with natural gas from the start. From 1992-1996, Units 1, 2, 5 and 6 were shut down and were converted into combined cycle plants by adding another gas turbine to the existing boiler-turbine units to reuse exhaust gases., [2] This gave the plant a total power generating capacity of 3966 MW, which makes it one of the largest in Japan. I will say for once the people of Niger delta and NDDC in particular are using their head for once. These are the kind of developmental project people of this region should be working on instead of waiting endlessly on the mercy of Abuja.

The gas here is in abundance so powering the plants shouldn't be an issue.

My only worry now is hopefully it will be implemented.

Bros,

This is what Fashola has been telling you all since, power plants should be located closest to the feedstock; in this case gas in NigerDelta as source of Gas-powered plants

This national grid nonsense is killing Nigeria, why should electricity be nationalised

Why wouldn't Nigeria practice true Federalism, sub division power generation and distribution to regions and uses local materials unique to the environment to power the turbines. Why should a gas pipeline be made to transport gas from Niger Delta to the north to power a gas powered turbine just because of one Nigeria; why should electricity be lost while transporting electricity from kanji dam to the south south, when gas is readily available.

Sometimes I ask myself what's wrong with Nigeria, why do we love making things difficult for ourselves. Donald Trump is right after all, here is a a complete shithole, the African race is a liability to the rest of the world.

All our leaders know is loot and loot without even adding any value to their subjects. Ask yourself what value have Buhari added to the country, nothing and the nonsense continues

1. First off, there is nothing wrong in transporting gas to the North. What is important it is put to good use. If plants are built in many places and they can be supplied gas from anywhere. If we can solve the inequality problem and fix Niger Delta, we have enough gas to "feed" the Niger Delta and send to the North.

2. To disabuse your mind, Nigeria sends gas through the ELPS - WAGP line from Nigeria Delta up to Cote d'Ivore, Russia sends Gas all over Europe

There is nothing wrong, does it make economic sense? Nigeria because of the abundance of wealth at its disposal waste enough resources which is regrettable.

Why not talk about decentralization of power supply and generation than arguing over frivolous issues

Good idea.
phoenix45:

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in its recent discussion with a Chinese firm to establish a regional power pool project in the Niger Delta.

The NDDC Managing Director, Mr Nsima Ekere, disclosed this in a statement issued by the commission’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Ibitoye Abosede, on Monday in Port Harcourt.

Ekere, represented by the commission’s Executive Director, Projects, Dr. Samuel Adjogbe, said at the meeting with officials of the Chinese company, SINOTEC, that the project was designed to stimulate industrial growth of the region.

He said on completion of the project, 7,000 mega watts of electricity would be produced from 18 power stations spread across the region.

“We have looked at some indicators and it is obvious that the power requirement for industrial growth in the region is not available.

“So, we need to make deliberate efforts to set up projects that can boost power and attract investors to the region.

Ekere said the commission was fully focused on diversifying the region’s economy from its over-reliance on oil and gas for survival.

“NDDC is interested in setting up the regional power pool to help provide adequate power that would be subsidised for the industrial parks planned for the nine states of the region.

“The power pool arrangement would benefit all Niger Delta people,” he said.

According to Ekere, the feasibility study for the project has been concluded across the Niger Delta states.

He said that the next stage would be to prepare the actual design for the project and produce the agreement spelling out conditions and terms of engagement.

The NDDC boss urged the Chinese firm to work out details including funding requirements which should be presented to the commission on Feb. 6.

Matthew Edevbie, the Managing Director of Income Electrik and consultant to NDDC, said the project aimed “to harness cheap, abundant, reliable and available power in the region’’.

Edevbie said that aside the 7,000 mega watts the 18 power stations would generate, industrial parks would also be built in each of the Senatorial districts in the region.

Responding, the General Manager of SINOTEC, Mr Bu Songo, said there was the need for a Public-Private Partnership for development of the power plant in the region.

He said that international funding was critical to the successful execution of the project, adding that SINOTEC had experience in power generation, transmission and contract financing.

The Futtsu Power Station (富津火力発電所) is the second largest gas-fired power station in the world, located in Futtsu, Japan . The power station operates at 5,040 MW by utilizing FOUR units, of which two are
1,520 MW and 1,000 MW in size.[2] All four units run on natural gas. The facility is owned by Tepco .

during fashola first tenure. he and timing had better plan for Lagos in terms of power generation.
but they wer constrained by the northerner law maker

the best NDDC can do is to build compact 100 MW. for each industrial zone.

the regulatory approval for anything less than 100MW. does permit it not to added to national grid.
