The sheep is the third personality in the sheepfold. Christ laid down His life for the sheep and He is committed to saving those who are yet to come into His fold. The following are characteristics of true sheep:

(a) They want to be shepherded: True sheep long to be shepherded because they enjoy it. Goats do not care about being under shepherding because they do not enjoy it. This is the difference between goats and sheep. Sheep love still waters; they do not like strife or gossip. But goats stir up strife because they thrive on it. Whenever goats show up among the sheep, the pastor is to shield the sheep from the poison the goats spread.

(b) They love to lie down in green pastures: Green pastures represent the ministrations of their God-given pastor. Goats are just passing through, they don’t want to lie down. They eat the green pasture as much as they can and move somewhere else. Goats just want to exploit the pasture to get their goals without settling down and growing. Goats just want to use the anointing. Sheep settle and grow with the ministrations of their God-given shepherd.

(c) They never miss feeding time: True sheep don’t loiter and they refuse to be distracted when feeding is going on. They stay as long as it takes until the service ends; they can hardly wait for the next service. They don’t say “Thank God we are almost through!” They enjoy listening to their pastor preach the same way a man enjoys his wife's soup or you enjoyed your mother's cooking when you were young –that is exactly how feeding time feels for sheep.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank you for saving me. Forgive me for every time I have behaved wrongly as sheep in the sheepfold in Jesus’ name. Amen.
