You can be indigenous to anywhere. What matter is how you relate with your neighbours there and if they accept you or not. I have seen many Ikwere and Anioma deny that they are eboe. In fact, some of the Ibadan army who fought against Fulani army and defeated them in Osogbo & Odo-Otin were muslims; for example Aare Latosa the head of Ibadan army was a muslim.

Well, from what I read from history, the fulanis will first appear as if they are your friends. They will behave and make you believe that they mean no harm, after which they will strike.
