Sex is one of the most basic, primal human urges. It's also one of the most taboo, which is why there are tons of laws to regulate it. Most are understandable, but a few are just plain weird.

Here are the strangest one we could find.


1. In Arizona, it's illegal to have more than two dildos in one house.



And in Texas, it’s illegal to have more than six. We can’t help but wonder as to the legal reasoning behind these very specific numbers.


Why two and six? What happens if a woman (or man) has *gasp* eight dildos? Ten dildos!

The possibilities boggle the mind.


2. Alabama prohibits incestuous marriages.



But Pennyslvania takes it one step further in specificity. According to Pennsylvania codes 1304, 1704, 3304-3305, 5102, marriage is prohibited between “ancestor and descendant, aunt and nephew, brother and sister, uncle and niece [and] first cousins.”


Also, there’s an added prohibition against impotence – i.e., you can’t get married if you can’t get it up.

 


3. South Carolina looks down on men who don't keep their promises.



If you promise a woman you’ll marry her, and she sleeps with you in good faith, you have to carry out your end of the bargain.
We imagine this law was super important back in the early days when a woman’s reputation could be ruined for the terrible and heinous crime of actually enjoying sex.


4. In both Indiana and South Dakota, it's illegal for a man to be publicly aroused.



So if you feel the forces of nature conspiring in your pants, it’s a good idea to find a bush or some sort of tree to hide behind until everything goes to normal.



On the other hand, this could make you look like a horrible creeper, so maybe find another way to camouflage yourself.


5. In Arkansas and New Jersey, flirtation between men and women is illegal.



In Arkansas, specifically, this may result in a 30-day jail term. Arkansas also specifically bans “lascivious banter,” whatever that is.


We can’t help but wonder what the writers of said laws would make of man on man flirtation, or *gasp* woman on woman.
6. Alaska has one of the most Alaskan weird sex laws ever.



Moose are prohibited from having sex on the streets of Fairbanks. We presume this is to protect the minds of young and innocent human children, so they are not defiled by the specter of moose-on-moose action.


We do wonder, however, how the authorities can make sure moose know and obey this law. After all, they aren’t known for being the most law-abiding animals.


7. In Walnut, California, a man cannot dress like a woman without the written permission of a sheriff.



We presume then, that all drag queens in Walnut spend an inordinate amount of time in the sheriff’s offices applying for their permits.



So, does that mean the sheriff’s offices in Walnut are the livest places to be? Do Ms. Coco Magnificent and other fictional drag queens practice their craft while officers look on in awe?

Ah, the fictional lives those Walnut officers live.


8. Georgia has multiple weird sex laws including a ban on all intimacy gadgets.



Someone should tell that to all the Inserections and Love Shacks we saw straddling the streets of Atlanta.
9. Georgia also prohibits materials containing "sadomasochistic abuse."



According to Georgia’s criminal code:

“Sadomasochistic abuse” means actual or simulated flagellation or torture by or upon a person who is nude, clad in undergarments, a mask or bizarre costume, or the condition of being fettered, bound, or otherwise physically restrained by one so clothed or nude.


10. Louisiana explicitly states that necrophilia is illegal.



So, for that matter, is using fortune-telling, astrology or palmistry to “settle lovers quarrels” in New Orleans.

So basically, no voodoo.

 


11. In Oregon, it's illegal for two people to use one bathroom stall.



Also, you can’t lie down in a public restroom.

We have just one question – what exactly are people up to in Oregon?


12. In Utah, it's illegal to marry your first cousin before both of you are 65.



You can actually go as low as 55, but you have to prove that both of you are infertile.

You know, to prevent the “products of incest.”


13. In Kansas, illegal sodomy has a very broad definition.



It includes MouthAction – although you can penetrate someone anally with your finger in very special circumstances.

We assume proctologists have carte blanche in this matter.
