omololu2020:U are so correct. The solutions to our problems in this country are so simple that u wonder why the problems remain It is all sabotage from selfish leaders and their cronies. Do u realize that if such a bill is passed, our power companies will sit up and power supply will increase? Investors will even love to come in because billing transparency will improve hence impacting positively on profitability and it's stewardship reporting |

What an inspiring and honest answer. The guy said it all . The immigrants put in ×2 effort in whatever situation they find themselves. They succeed even against all odd. And you are there complaining that they are stealing your job. |

t00dugged: And what makes you think so? There are so many skilled mexican workers in the US who work their butts off for about $8 an hour but back home, that same job will fetch them about $1. So if you were one of them, what would do? Remain at home or move to the US? 1 Like |

oyb: American citizenship has varying classes. The black American's did not become citizens until the late 1870, even so rights where limited. American was built on the backs of immigrants and it is going to remain that way for a very long time. Trump is only here to remind you of it. Same way Obama was supported by the main caucus only after it was established that he was not the son of a slave but of a free born, even noble man from Africa. And immigrants do not become really successful until the third or fourth generation. Until then it's security and dish washing. |

t00dugged: It's not the nature of the job but the pay that motivates people, when you convert one dollar to your local currency the worth of your hour is great to see. Lots of jobs are more appreciated in certain climes that others. How much does a dishwashing job pay in Lagos with the kind rickety restaurants you have around? Does Tatalizers, KFC employ people as dishwashers solely? There are certain jobs that are not available where you are because of lack of entrepreneurship that boosts employment . 1 Like |

TheCabal: You think if they pay all that they will be left empty? Kidding me!! Say what you know bro! you pay taxes according to your earnings, the lower you earn, the lower you pay and you get this back as a low income earner when you file for taxes. In Canada, Healthcare is free. Food is not expensive neither is clothing or transportation and if you are able to study in 2 or 3 years you get a better job to feed your family in Nigeria and yes still take pictures with oyibo on top An American dream is better than Nigerian dream, what am saying is that a living dream is better than a dead one! and you don't need 3 dishing jobs! 3 Likes 2 Shares |

omololu2020: I understand your pain, but i must tell you that it is not possible. Have you ever wondered why the distribution company (NEPA & PHCN) never metered all their customers even when it was still under the care of the Federal Government? It's easier for you to judge from the outside but when you are on the inside you'll understand better. Meters costs money, a lot actually, most especially the prepaid meters. Now, what do you do when after going through all the hassles of metering customers, more than 90% begin to bypass the said meters? The painful truth is that the average Nigerian is very corrupt. You'll be surprised the length people are willing to go in order to beat the system. Like it or not, the distribution companies already know the amount of energy distributed on their feeders. When this energy is consumed, all units must be billed according to NERC regulations. The prepaid meter customers are assumed to have already paid when they purchased their vouchers, whatever is remaining will be shared to post paid and unmetered customers. Post paid customers already have meters where readings are taken and they are billed according to their tariff. Whatever is left will be diverted to the unmetered customers. It's an inefficient system but it is what we have to make do with for now given the mess inherited in the system. When customers begin to bypass their meters, the energy consumed is unaccounted for. Also, there are a lot of illegal customers in the system; people who consume electricity with payment because they have no record with the company. Unfortunately, it is the unmetered customers who get the short end of the stick as a result of all these irregularities. So when next you see someone hanging wire at night or digging and burying wires underground, know that someone, somewhere is going to pay for it including the energy from bypassed meters. 1 Like |

t00dugged: While you still holding this thought, please tell me how much a dish washer in Nigeria earn or a Mason, and the other grueling jobs in African countries earn compared to their wages in America. My point is you pay competitive rates for a menial job and that wage can help one feed, get an accommodation and an education then you'd find people doing it gladly. Once upon Ghanaians were shoe cobblers, hairdressers, water Vendors in Nigeria. Although that didn't stop Nigerian from doing those jobs. |

The immigrants became hardworking because they want to pay bills, give some to their people back at home, boast to people back at home. Why did they leave their country to come to American and wash plates? Can they wash plates in their home country? Believe me when things are working well foe you, it would seem you are lazy. Americans are not lazy, they are privileged because of their country. Ghanaians were once the most hardworking people in Nigeria, doing shoe makers and other peasant works. Yet the idiot Nigerians chase them away. No matter who you are, if you are in your hometown or home country, nothing is chasing you. But when you go to another country or another city, you will be chased, because (1)You will want to make it, so that when you go back home, they will appreciate you more when they see hoe wealthy you are. (2)In developed countries, you can't enjoy the same entreaties given to citizens, so you have to work your ass off. |

We are all entitled to our different perspectives about life, as far as it is working for you. Success stories have different versions, what worked for you may not work for others. I migrated to America reluctantly because I had a great job in Nigeria, however I have not regretted moving to US. Initially it was all exciting and mesmerizing but as you climb up the social ladder you discover you don't really belong there - maybe your children would be more at home there but not you. We cannot run away forever, let's go empower ourselves to come back and build our fatherland. 2 Likes |
