How about atheists actions on this thread?
What motivated them?::

https://www.nairaland.com/3176513/atheist-murderers-past-present-murderous

grin grin grin

This has nothing to do with the slave trade, colonialism and how your magic book came to infect our cultures.

Unbelievers don't defend psychopaths just because of shared notions. Humanity matters. People matter. Slavery is wrong because we like people. We are people. An atheist mass murderer is a mass murderer. Who cares? None of this is hard.

Again, for our Naija Christians: Is your potential salvation worth the destruction f our societies and the enslavement and brutalisation of millions of our brothers and sisters

This has NOTHING to do with atheism...

I won't honour you with a discussion on religion.
I've previously made my point. Slavery predates christianity and it was Christians who eradicated it.

Tell me what atheism did concerning slavery?

Our brothers and sisters would have had it much worse but for Christianity. They probably would have been used as human sacrifices to various gods. Most early civil rights leaders were pastors. Stop lying to yourself.

You have just demonstrated abysmal ignorance of the basic dehumanising facts of the slave trade, if you can state 'human sacrifices' and other unnamed practices were worse than slavery and that Christianity saved us from them! How low an opinion must you have of us and our cultures, values and history to reach thus conclusion.

Thanks for answering the question in the affirmative from a believers standpoint:.

You've made my point and made me sad for Africa.

Atheists are specialists in telling us what religion can't do or has done wrong, but will never tell you what atheism can do correctly.

In their obsession, they don't care about history or what Christianity have done correctly,

I see christians building hospitals, I see christians building educational institutes, Prestigious institutes such as Havard, Princeton, Oxford, Cambridge and several others were founded by christians. I see christians building countless orphanages. Christianity runs the largest charity in the world, Christians spend their time in hospital deathbeds-giving hope to the hopeless, in prison cells-giving hope to the condemned, in camps of people who have been rendered homeless by terrorists spreading help and encouragement, consistently engaging in village outreaches amongst others. I see christianity putting smiles on the faces of people. Countless people have become disciples of Christ through the love shown to them. I don't see atheists doing anything but ridicule religious people and their beliefs.

Specialized talkatives grin

See how happy the villagers below are due to a christian charity organization. What does atheism do or make you do undecided
Talk? undecided

Bros, the video itself said the masters were compelled to give the slaves bibles. Because it would be a huge sin not to. They were also compelled to do other things due to their nominal subscription to christianity. That's the avenue through which many learned to read and others became pastors. Christianity made that possible. BTW, note that today Africans in Africa who were never enslaved would love to be in US.

You clearly know nothing about plantation societies and slavery. We were not even considered human. To the Christians we had no souls. Bibles were given in orde to control us beacause they contained passages exhorting slaves to obey their masters.

Your final sentence reminds me that you are in the global majority of Black opinion. That we are still passionately dedicated and self-hating slaves - and that we are doomed and deserve no place at the table of nations.

If I was a Christian I'd pray for you...

Yeah, obviously its in the slave owner's interest to give slaves a book that endorses slavery to read, a book that contains new testament verses like "Slaves, obey your earthly masters in fear and trembling" wink

You clearly know nothing about being a nominal christian. These were people afraid of hell and sin. And it'd be the greatest sin not to avail another the means to salvation. How come they did not give them only the part on slavery or just have them memorize it so they never learn to read?
They were compelled to be human and empathetic BECAUSE THEY WERE NOMINAL CHRISTIANS. Without Christianity the depth of depravity would have been unbelievable.

What? They handed slaves a book that endorsed slavery and you're saying it like its a good thing haha

this is like me handing a pedophilia endorsing book to an ignorant and uneducated 10yo girl I'm having sex with so she can be comfortable with my having sex with her and telling myself its all fine and dandy cuz I'm teaching her to read in the process

I'm just amazed at how you keep shooting yourself in the foot it almost makes me feel bad

Abeg!! The depth of actual depravity was unbelievable way beyond your knowledge and comprehension if you can say something like this. People were being farmed in order to be worked to death. Infants born from mass- rape were entered into ledgers as livestock by the men who fathered them. You know as much about the slave trade as you do about the Bible of which you've clearly read very little.

Slavemasters were NOT empathetic through Christianity. They were businessmen needing their livestock to obey 'in fear and trembling" from generation to generation. These instructions were ordained in the Holy Bible.

They did a good job.

You are an oustanding self-replicating example of their work.

Make sense. If that was their motive, why hand them them the whole book. Is the message in the bible slavery? The message in the bible is SALVATION THROUGH CHRIST and it would be the greatest sin for a christian to keep it from anybody. Stop deceiving yourself.

the hypothetical book I'm handing the hypothetical 10yo girl wasn't entirely based on paedophilia, there's some mathematics, government, history etc in it too so its fine and dandy

Why do u lie to yourself. Did the slaves have to go to church? Did the slaves have to have Sundays off? You forget the same book also instructs the slaves that they and their masters were equal b4 God. The same book also instructs the masters not to mistreat the slaves.
Yet u insist they gave them the whole book because of the 0.0000000000000000001% percent of it that says slaves obey your masters.
Yet u have no explanation why they didn't give them just that part.

No, the over-riding spirit of the book is that a grown man should not be having sex with a 10yo. Why not give them only the part that endorses your action ?

Stop being hard to educate. Slavery and unbelievable atrocities were there long before Christianity. The missionaries who risked life and limb to spread Christianity to Africa were not into slave trade or slavery. Stop saying Christianity came through slavery. That's a pathetic lie.

This is embarrassing.

They did just 'give us that part'. You are still preaching it...

You are exposing your ignorance of the fact that we were forbidden to read. A literate Black man ran the risk of public torture or death. They gave us the parts of the Bible they wanted us to know - all about service and obedience to Christian masters.Slaves were prohibited from attending established churches and there was enormous and occasionally violent resistance to non-conformists preaching to them because it led to more exposure to reading and its attendant dangers.

'Services' were held in the presence of a white man. There was no independent Black worship. That was the point!!

I have a strong feeling you've not spoken much on these matters to our brodas in the diaspora who are more closely connected through blood to these matters.

A robust and frank conversation with them may convince you of the idiocy and cowardice of your sentiments more than our exchange here...

Don't lie just because of this discussion. And stop talking about fringe abberations. Many if these slaves were house slaves. They not only gave them the bible, they taught them how to read it. Or do u think they learnt it from thin air? One sent his slave to study in England.
Many people, including many of our brodas in the diaspora, choose to maintain a warped and dishonest view of things. They'd tell u things like all white men are evil and no white man contributed in liberation of black prople.

Wow. The power of religion. Religion is the only thing that can make a black man praise his white slave master.

Religion is truly a curse on black people

The holy bible is a BOOK that has been in man's hand for millenia and could have easily been corrupted. It helps Christians in teaching and edification but the ultimate guide is the spirit. Also a discerning spirit can tell what parts of the bible to discount.

This is not a discening spirit. This is blasphemy again. You cannot discount parts of the Bible because you do not like it. Satan is very cunning and tempts with kindness and sympathy.

I caution you. to be not wise in your own conceits.

The heart of man is despreately wicked. The spirit is infinitely corrupt. We can do nothing and know noting without the word of God. How can we be guided without the Bible?

And where was your Jesus during slavery?......sleeping?

Did you know that the first slave ship to South America was called “The Good Ship Jesus” ?

The Church did not oppose the institution of slavery until the practice had already become infamous in most parts of the world.
