So from your 3. and 4. you're tryna say the little girl proclaimed her faith just by mouth? that she's too little to have a belief and stand by what she believes in?

What she did isn't just by words of mouth. A typical kid will just disown her belief to get home and free but she's a typical case of many Matyrs (St. Maria Goretti, Charles Borremo, Stephen, etc) who stood by their faith in God.

Whether she even declares God by her mouth or heart, she's fulfilling her obligation of what true Christianity. Even Christ promised to declare before God, those who declare him too here on earth.

Then Bruce should come up with alternatives to ending this tragedy. What he fails to realise like most Nigerians do is chasing after individuals at the expense of institutions, systems and in this case creeds. Yes, they are terrorists who should not be ordinaroly talked to but more importantly they represent an institution which fights an insurgent war backed by fundamentalist ideology. Such cannot be defeated by the very violence they thrive in. To beat a pig in a mud pit is possible but very dire. And humanity simply cannotuse hostages of the most vulnerable kind as pawns or baits to do that.

Whether the senator likes it or not, the military has maxed out oits competencies and capabilities against this insurgent group and any further stretching of these capabilities will lead to the breakdown of the military as an institution itself. Every conflict I know ofin history has always ended in talks. You either talk to accept your opponents defeat or talk to speak of your defeat while accepting their terms. We have a choice to open talks when our (Nigeria's) position remains viable. We have little choice. We cannot eradicate Boko Haram militarily.

The only aspect of the government's position which I disagree with is the offer of amnesty. It should not be a pre condition for ceassation of violence and talks and since the group has been gazetted as an insurrection by government, the President should not hsve sole authority to offer amnesty. It should be the decision of all Nigerians through the National Assembly by debate, the Presidency pressing their own case for it.

But the conflict must be de escalated and wound down. It has gone on for too long and cost too much. Enough is enough.
