And what were the police useful for before?

This is what they know to do best, this is what they excel at.

Giving people stress, killing, implicating innocent folks and collecting bribe for truncating Justice. So, they busy working already.

This same students protesting will vote for him when he is contesting for second tenure. I believe the student union leadership collected money from him during campaign for his governorship election (first term) now the governor wants to collect his money back....#bewise

The decision was taken out of Akeredolu's hands in 2013...when GEJ told ASUU the home truth that giving universites N3trillion in extra funding as agreed in 2009 was not going to be possible.

So, anyone saying that he won't increase fees was just joking.

On a more serious note....you cannot run a university on fees less than N40000 a month. Fees have to go up, or we take N3 trillion from our N8trillion budget and spend it on just unviersites, or we take anohter loan.

Firing live bullets at unarmed protesters? Yet we scream blue murder when trump calls this hellhole a shithole country. what a country.
Yet we blame Fulani herdsmen for the killings going on when its certain they learnt from the best ( The government) which is very good at killing unarmed people at will. They did it to ipob and others. many will sadly still die before this devilish regime winds down.

Students will never learn. Protests don't work in Nigeria.

The students should have called for a dialogue. It is simple, ask Akeredolu what the students will get in exchange for a steady (not sporadic) fee increment. There is no law anywhere in Nigeria that says a Governor can't increase fees of state infrastructure.

If he insists on increasing fees, dialogue with him and save your heads. Beg him to allow current and existing students maintain the fees. The new policy should commence on willing incoming students (intakes).

If he ends up discarding the idea of fee increment due to pressures from the protesting students, one can only shake his head for the quality of education most of the students will receive. There are several ways to get back at the students;

1. Starve lecturers
2. Fire the top lecturers/Profs
3. Higher half baked and cheap lecturers
4. Deny payment for accreditations
5. Etc.

Since we are so good at electing weaklings and useless sets of Lawmakers, there is nothing anyone can do for these students than beg the Governor.
