If you are updated on world politics you will know that Trump is not interested in removing Assad...the only reason Trump assented to this was because of pro Obama, pro Hillary war politicians that only agree with Trump only when he is throwing bomb on Syria. This is not about political update. Actions like these strikes can have both intended and unforeseen consequences. Suppose these strikes escalate or even unwittingly kill Asad ( he can be hiding anywhere knowing many countries won't mind eliminating him) what effect will it have on terrorists currently retreating? They will most likely bounce back. Western track record of bringing stability after getting rid of leader whose face they despise is pretty abysmal. Iraq, Libya and others are testament to that.

The reason Trump is doing it is irrelevant. Western leaders always have one reason or the other. The consequences for ordinary Syrians will be same.

Let us look at a brief history of US onslaught in the world and their huge failures:

Vietnam in 1975, when they had to run back to their country with their tails between their legs after fighting for nearly 20 freaking years. Even with the tons of bombs, napalm and agent orange they rained down on that poor country, decimating their civilian population, they could not defeat the Viet Cong.

They could not defeat the Taliban, a rag tag rebel group in Afghanistan which at the beginning of their senseless war only occupied less than 5% of the Afghan territory, now controls 60% of the country and the poppy fields (which is the source of the American opioid crises)
They couldn't defeat Iraq which they left in 2011 after destroying the nation by all proportions, but had to go back in 2014 because they created another monster called ISIS which they needed to fight.

They destroyed Libya and left an open air slave market there.
They are still droning Somalia but the rebels there seem to grow larger everyday.

Now Syria, but Assad is now backed by Russia, Iran, Hezbollah and China. If the US couldnt win a war in these small countries, then Syria will be an impossible task.

I'm sure there are much more but these were the only ones I could remember off the top of my head.

Yes, but they hit Already evacuated positions and couldn't hit the more sensitive ones because of the defense systems, only mostly unprotected territories. In Essence they only hit where the Russians wanted them to hit.

Trump had told Russian and Syria days ago to watchout that the US will be hitting certain defence chemical facilities in Syria.He spoke with the US allies, heads of parliaments and fellow Americans before the attack. Syria had evacuated every civilians from all potential targets since. So don't expect any civilian casualties.
The ball is now in Russians court.

Three countries were involved. Britain and France with missile carrying aircrafts and America with surface to ground missile. The Russian were informed to evacuate their personnel before the strike, according to the French foreign Secretary

Even Russia don't have the full capacity to divert that type of missile yet.

Trump had announced that he will pull US out.
Syria had no reason to use chemical weapon since they are already winning.
I hope Russia responds appropriately to the aggression from the US, France and Britain.
