First city monument bank is unbelievably carlous. they employ contract staffs pay them 25k and ask them to go sell their products with unreasonable targets such as 5million. yet they dont give u their car for marketing, neither do they pay fone bills 4 calls u made, they expect the 25k to be ur salary, transportation and fone call bills

25k for 5million that pathetic, exploitation. its only in Nigeria that employers can use the rampant unemployment to exploit graduates like this.

That's so humilating. We should do something about these big companies making lot of money and still exploiting employees like slaves. Keep the word flowing,
Re: Fcmb Treating Staffs As Slaves by Seun(m): 5:16pm On May 17, 2010
The best way to let them know they are wrong to provide such targets is to resign from the job.

2. Where you forced to accept the job

Like someone said. If all Nigerians refuse to work for them, and all customers close their account with them, then the bank will be forced to change its attitude. Until then, We will continue to complain about them.

it's only a typical Nigerian that will reason and utter such nonsense above. They will say ''u better thank GOD for giving u a job'' They expect u to die and suffer in the line of duty simply because millions of nigerians are unemployed.
Thats the more reason why we continue to suffer in this GOD-forsaken country. angry angry angry

MR GEORGEE!!!

i strongly disagree with you on ur above assertion.
the above poster was right when he pointed out that no body forces you to accept a job!!!
its a cHOICE!!! ACCEPT OR DECLINE!!
not when you accept knowing fully well the terms and conditions, then ull start complaining.

FCMB alongst with other private orgs are private!!! hence they reserve the right to pay their staff even N1,000!!
its now left for you politely decline and move onto the next job opportunity.

We love complaining in Nigeria. What stops you from resigning?
I advise you to stay and focus on building your career.Train yourself on the job-this will open up doors you never thought existed.See this as an opportunity to network with your clients. If you're good at what you do,you can get an irresistible job offer/s from any of them.
If you're not ready for self-advancement,wallow in poverty of the mind and rev up your complaints.

people who are saying "resign, did they force you" are the reason why banks are operating the way they are. no labour laws are governing these banks and all they are doing is taking advantage of the lawless state of the country. bankers in nigeria do not have a voice, that's why they can hire them on 25k flat pay without benefits and they can fire you anytime they like. that's like £100 a month, haba! give nigerian lawmakers something to do. let them pass a law on employment contracts. they can pay you whatever they want but they can't expect you to pay their business expenses for them! nigerian banks are having a ball man! they send the rookies on endless journeys and pay them peanuts so the ogas can live like little kings. if you are suffering and smiling, don't think you will become an oga one day and then it'll all be over, when they can't afford to pay you peanuts, you'll be instantly fired! so shine your eyes

It drives me not when I hear acclaimed Nigerian graduates making all sort of silly statements. Before you suggest resignation, have you you thought of what 25k can do for someone in Nigeria not even after spending about 5yrs in the university with pains. If something is bad, let us all agree that it is bad before we start putting sentiment into it. This is while our leaders will continue to deceive us, loot our treasury and impoverish us because the few (maybe about 2% of the total population) will be coming out to make comparison amongst the corrupt leaders after collecting peanuts. Even in advanced countries, they have the minimum wage and this put into the planning of the economy. How do you want someone who is paid 25 to get money to look good for the job not even for paying rent for maybe a single room in Ikorodu and transport fare.Do you know how much the ED's and top management approves for themselves and you are justifying their action and accepting to leave below sub human condition. If a bank can pay as high as $120,000 as holiday allowance for MD, 3 SUV's with other loans to themselves and a repayment period of over 30yrs knowing fully well that he will not be there by that time. The future of Nigerian is in our hands and if we continue to be docile, everything will elude us with flimsy naughty excuses. They will still come to rig election again and you will it is the will of God because are fulfilled amidst poverty. I weak for una shalllllll!!!!!

@poster.

Its not only in the banking industry Nigerian youths are just suffering and toiling in the hands of these slave-traders calling themselves employers in Nigeria,I am presently experiencing an issue of this nature in the hands of one of the biggest slave-drivers in the oil industry.

The domain of poverty experienced by Nigerians lately is in the mental arena just as demonstrated by some replies rubbishing the fellow with this complain, the same category of poverty displayed at our leadership level,it is not only material poverty that kills in this country any longer but mental poverty, the manifestation is only what we have been struggling with but only God knows when we shall be liberated.

Cheers.

honestly I'm disgusted [ but not surprised] by some responses here. U can urge people to take $hit or leave it but is that going to make things right? I say Im not surprised cos this is how nigerians think. If e better for me, then everyone can go 2 hell.Thats y things are the way they are in this country and will always remain so cos tell me, if u feel indifferent towards ur fellow man being exploited by a corrupt system how do U expect to make a difference in the lives of others when U become a leader.  Or are our leaders a speciall breed of people form another planet? Our leaders today started like U and me rising to the top and adopting this senseless attitude. Their behaviour only mirror what we all think and how we all behave. May God grant us the wisdom to understand.

How much do you think the bank makes on the 5 Million deposit You think that the money automatically becomes the bank's own??
FYI, the money belongs to the depositor and the average maximum COT that can accrue to the bank from that amount is actually just 25k using the standard 0.5% rate.

So if the bank will make only 25k on COT(in most transactions there would be no COT) from the 5 million you brought in, then I think that if they give you 25k, they are been way too generous!!

Nigerians and una"suffering worker" mentality!! If I had my way, I will hardly employ any Nigerian workers!!!
