Nigerian Engineer Wins $500m Contract to Build Monorail Network in Iraq
By Eric - September 17, 2018

A Nigerian Engineer, based in Canada, Jude Igwemezie, has won a $500 million contract to build a monorail network in Iraq.
Mr. Igwemezie, who was also trained in Canada, heads TransGlobim International, the engineering company that won the bid. The contract is to construct what is described as “a viable rail transportation network” for the city of Najaf. The network will connect three Islamic holy and historic mosques in Imam Ali, Kufa and Sahle.
An elated Mr. Igwemezie told NEXT in a telephone interview that the project is billed to be completed in three years, and will be built in two phases. The first phase, he said, will cover the design, construction and operation of the system while the second phase will involve the expansion of the system and its extension to the Najaf airport and the final phase.
Mr. Igwemezie, who said he has been involved in negotiation with Nigerian officials in the last 18 months to construct several rail lines in the country, disclosed that it took “only two months to get the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) executed with Iraqi officials”.
Hinting at his frustration to offer his services to Nigeria, Mr. Igwemezie said, “as a Diaspora person, I kept coming back, knocking, to help Nigeria. On the other hand I can’t knock forever.”

I noticed that while Ndiigbo were sleeping, Yorubas are cornering the private University sector of Nigeria.

We must not allow that to be. We should be able to invest heavily in Private Universities as much as we can. We are an education loving people, and we shouldn't be losing our finances schooling in distant lands, when we can keep the money within our region, increase our government IGR and provide direct and indirect jobs to our people.

Many Igbo investors are not really interested in building schools. Private universities are too expensive and I'm a strong supporter of cheap or free education at all levels and this can only be achieved in government schools. Across the world today, government owned schools produce the best students, we should focus more on providing cheap education for our people by assisting the government in revamping the government owned schools and making them first class institutions of learning rather than investing in private schools that only a lucky few can afford just because the yorubas are investing massively in private schools.

I thank God that we are now finally waking up.

I preciate Okorocha and hopefully Ifeanyi Ubah for stepping up to the challenge.

We hope others will follow. i.e. Dr Maduka, ObiJackson and Co.

We need world class University not rubbish.

so you want the university of Asaba to be a private one?

Imagine someone from Ebonyi telling his superior what to do even when it will take Ebonyi 200yrs to get to the present level of development and advancement of Anambra.

Ebonyi is the most backward state in Nigeria today but it does not bother you. Low class Igbos from Ebonyi state are treated like shiiit all over Igbo land and Nigeria at large. At the mention of Ebonyi everyone frowns. cheesy

Nwokem, anyone who is Igbo enough to answer Igbo name believes he is Igbo. But may claim otherwise due to economic advantages or the quest to feel different.
Biko, stop losing sleep over some Ikwerre people. In time, when they see there is no advantage whasoever to deny their heritage, they will quietly return.

Return to what?
Some of you are funny. The worst mistake you people will ever make.
So, Igbos are now classless people that can be returned to when things go sour?

As far as i am concerned, any group that deny Igbo for economic gain are Judas.

Igbo thing cannot always be negatively different from others.

We cannot continue to tolerate the intolerable.

No person should expect that from us.

Our father may have but this generation wont.

We will confront them, look them square in the face and call dem Judas Iscariot.

Thank you.
Judases are the worst thing that can happen to any group. It will always been a weak link, prone to become pawns for possible future betrayals and so on.
And typically, they will keep on demanding for compensations or else they severe ties and join the enemy. Then, the group, in order to prevent losing to the enemy, will keep on licking their asses with all kinds of compromises. Tufiakwa

lol go beat ikwerre people na

If they choose to be Igbo tomorrow there's nothing you can do

Most of you are just lucky that your geopolitical zone is in SE.

That doesn't give you the right to judge SS igbos

Here is the roll call of notable health facilities in the east:
1.Obijackson Children hospital Okjija
2.Dr Maduka's global hospital Umuchukwu.
3.Rise Clinic Adazi-Ani
4.Enugu ultra Modern Diagnostic hospital
5.Dr Benjamin Anyanwu Stroke Hospital Owerri.
6. Federal Medical Centres Asaba,Owerri,Umuahi and Abakaliki
7.Ebonyi State teaching Hospital
8.UNTH
9.Unizik TH
10.National Orthopeadic Hospital Enugu.
11.Parklane Enugu
In the final analysis,Dr Maduka's hospital will reverse health tourism migration in Nigeria to Igboland. I am sure, given the clout he displayed so far,he will attract attract international donor agencies, foundations and notable international assistance to equip and uplift that facility.I think i saw the model somewhere and it looked too good to be true but still were realizable within a short time frame.
In sane climes,People like Dr Maduka will be consulted and given a mandate to revive the health sector in Eastern Nigeria.Sad we dont have such forward looking leaders YET!
Other Big Hospitals in Enugu:

-National Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Enugu.
- Eastern Nigerian Medical Center, Enugu
-Niger Foundation Hospital , Enugu
-Mother of Christ Specialist Hospital, Enugu

By investing money in ss igboland

By always claiming u guys as igbos even when its against se interest

South east igbos have really sacrificed so much for south south igbos and that’s why sometimes they lash out out of frustration at SOME igbos in the south south who attack or deny them. So I can understand when some south east igbos just don’t even try anymore.

But we will use this thread to heal and make our brotherly bonds stronger.

It’s hard to fight for those who harbors element s that openly deny you when it really matters. You have to put yourself in south east igbos position to understand why they just take the safest route. The creation of Ebonyi State.

“Oh you land grabbers”
“Why are you guys including south south”
“We have made it clear we are not igbos.why are you guys including us in the south east”
“We are from Bini”

Just imagine trying to lobby federal government while these things are being screamed in the media daily.

To make it worse, it’s not coming from yoruba, Hausa, ijaw or itshekiri, rather it’s coming from someone you are willing to die for.

Just imagine how heartbroken you willl feel.

When you deny ur ethnicity, u isolate yourself and become a prey to otherwise smaller group who take advantage of your size to oppress you.

If u are looking for anyone to blame, look much closer at yourself.

There is nothing clever about denying yourself.

Can u blame igbos for facing forward or wat do u want them to do?

Now I'm getting confused

is it not the same anioma traditional rulers that are fighting to join SE?

you ignored the important leaders and kept listening to miscreants.
is a miscreant more relevant than the obi of owa?

you couldn't take the risk that's why anioma is still in ss

even asagba of asaba said we are stretching our hands but you guys are not grabbing it.

1) I am not making excuses for the timid south East sociocultural and political leadership. I am highly disappointed with what I have seen from them.

2) Even though I tried to make sure that you understand that I am not generalizing by saying “SOME elements”, you still accused me of generalizing.

My response to you was to basically show you some critical factors that have might have contributed to the LACK OF AGRESSIVE push for Anioma state in the past.

My brother please calm down and read what I am saying carefully before you respond. I am with you that south east leaders should fight more aggressively for anioma state. My mother is from oko in oshimili north local government, delta state.

This is my point exactly.

Successive Governors of Delta State have all deliberately ignored the requirement for a federal university in Delta State.

States recently created that are younger all have Federal University.

These same minorities cleverly built a State University in Abraka.

My question is why did Okowa not push for a Federal University?

Why the focus on a cargo airport that is already standing and Keshi stadium?

The federal government already approved Federal University for every state, so what stops him from negotiating for one to be constructed?

Alternatively use the state funds to build a University of Asaba, that would have been a better legacy than Keshi Stadium in my opinion.

I guess there is a Federal University already. Federal University of Petroleum Resources Efurrun.

Our people don't typically reason like that. Actually, it is best to patronize your people when they own a company that can deliver what you want. The problem with the Igboman is that we don't do kporakpo business and the dude will not give his homeland a discount nor go the extra mile to give the best product ever.

Mr Igwemezie said he'd been knocking on doors in Nigeria for the past 18 months, yet has got no response from the federal gov't. Anyone surprised? I ain't! He should have known the character of the gov't he's dealing with, and not bothered himself! They'd rather award a billion dollar contract to a total foreigner than allow a 'nyamirri' get rich from such a one-off, big ticket project.

Rather, i think he should reach out to regional economic organisations like the one Prof Barth Nnaji said was in talks to build a regional rail network in the south east.
