The trend is catching on like wildfire. A lot of Nigerian eligible bachelors in their 30's are starting to discover the benefits of dating much younger ladies mostly between the ages of 19-22 in readiness for marriage, as a solution to the epidemic of unsubmissive, rude, unfaithful, disloyal and "highest-bidder" spinsters in their own age group (late twenties/early thirties). The benefits of doing so explains why.

1. You are much more likely to have a peaceful home because the sense of respect and submission from the young wife is natural, when the age gap is anything from 7-15 years. Yet they are mature enough to perform all their wifely duties.

2. With the age of graduation from universities falling rapidly over time, there are lots of young girls within that age bracket that are available for courtship.

3. In these hard economic times where jobs after school are hard to come by, ladies are attracted to the financial security that comes with a committed relationship with an established man. Like Davido said love is sweeter when there is money involved.

4. For the same reason above, young men of those girls age group that should be engaging them in committed relationships cannot do so because they're not yet financially secure enough for such, which makes such girls easy pickings for slightly older established males.

5. The chances of such young girls being virgins is much higher, and the chances that they have destroyed their wombs with multiple abortions is much lower than the much touted "evening newspapers".

6. Most of these girl's life ambition from the womb is to get married, so they jump at it when a capable suitor presents himself, especially when they witness the pressure and subtle insults their older unmarried sisters face at home which they wouldn't want to experience.

7. The age gap works excellently for both parties; as the girl benefits from the maturity, wisdom, guidance, emotional and financial stability of her older husband, the husband benefits from her youthfulness as he ages. Who wouldn't want a hot 29 year old as a wife in his 40's? Who wouldn't want a wife young enough to take good care of him in his 70's? Who wouldn't want a hot young wife that he remembers he kept at home and smiles, when younger ladies outside try to tempt him?

Submission and respect is important in a marriage but with modernism and rise of feminism, older Nigerian ladies of marriageable age seem to be finding it difficult to submit for various reasons. If the bird learns to fly without perching, the hunter must learn to shoot without missing.
