Islands built by the rich and strictly for the rich. At least our stolen monies will sink in there rather than overseas.

God knows I will sure acquire a property there. Make my trap catch meat first.

You see why flooding in Lagos will continue whenever there is heavy rainfall? All the natural harbours and water channels, through which the lagoon and rivers drain out into the sea and other places, are being blocked by these silly land reclamation schemes which cater only to the rich.

What Lagos Island, Lekki, Victoria Island etc needs right now are a network of well constructed storm drains and aqueducts, to get floodwater quickly out of such areas into the lagoons and adjoining streams. sad But no, they won't do that. They are just busy spending more money to reclaim land for the idle rich.

Make una fear God nah! angry

Guy, go develop ur Biafra jungle, abeg.

The issue is that the slums will be Yoruba settlement while the islands will be overtaken by Igbos.

Where...exactly?? shocked After reclaiming land in silly proportions from the lagoon? How come nobody has seen these storm drainages and aqueducts, yet? We are not talking about those shallow gutters that line our streets, and are hardly ever cleared when they get blocked, o! Am talking about a serious complex underground network of tunnels, aqueducts and storm channels used to drain off and canalize flood water away from streets, and districts into the rivers and the lagoon.

shocked Anyway, water will always find its level....

Go and build aqueducts in Anambra grin

All talk and zero action, on construction of drainage channels. Let them continue strategising, until the rains come again the floods take over....!
That link you quoted, merely redirects you to another page that has nothing to do with the story.

Dangote's original intention was to site it in Ondo, but Ondo state government and the original community were giving Dangote problems so Fashola wooed him to Lagos and the rest they say is history. Mimiko messed up big time by his lack of leadership over the issue.

Ilori buruku ni mimiko, over 20yrs nothing has changed in ondo state.

Even if Nigeria is to break into pieces today, we know the region that will stand independently.

We are equally aware of those who will become refugees straight up.

We also know those who will be deported back to their five villages.

Our SW governors should do more in the area of education, transportation (rail especially) as well as employment generations.

So far the Yorubas interest is keenly protected, others (the 'owners' of Lagos) can keep crying.
