Lets see Abuja's own

same oil built lagos before now. Dont forget almost everything in lagos you glorify was built by FG

No. Those things built by the fg are the eyesore of Lagos today. The bridges in badia, costain, Ijora and the super terrible oshodi apapa expway . Also the national stadium too in surulere except for its aquatic centre I posted a while ago.
They third mainland bridge is not even the most iconic

Like I was trying to say in the morning before I couldn't go on: a city is more than just fancy roads. It is also about the availavlity of social infrastructure open to the public and also accessible by the public.

Below are pictures of some stadia etc in Iagos that are meant for just that

All empty though.....but thanks for the images.

There are plenty of open spaces like parks planned into Abuja and they are well used by its citizens of all social backgrounds ( men, women and children). It's free and enjoyable for the most part and they are well kept landscaped and in keeping with Abuja's natural beauty. There are so many natural spaces in Abuja purposed for relaxation and some of these parks turn into hang out spots in the evening with DJ's, food and drink.

Saturday morning aerobics at Jabi lake park is something I cherish in Abuja.

The reason you would have to leave obscenely early is to avoid traffic, no?

You just don't have to do that in Abuja. The road network means you will get to the airport within a reasonable time unless there has been an accident on the way.

So even if you are going to the Abuja airport from Nyanya, you would get there within a reasonable time? Oga, don't let your hatred for Lagos blind you to reality. Abuja is not as big as Lagos, and quite a number of people still live within a reasonable distance to the airport, unlike Lagos that is much more densely populated. In Lagos, if you live in Maryland, Ikeja GRA, Allen or Opebi, you would definitely get to the airport within a reasonable time unless there has been an accident on the way.

Yes, because reasonable time means taking distance into account. Nyanya is about 54 km from Abuja airport so if someone is driving at 60 km an hour it will take about 54 minutes. That's reasonable. It is far.
Lagos airport is situated in Ikeja so you don't expect someone to be delayed to the Airport same as some that lives near Abuja airport.

Name a place that is 54 km away from Lagos Airport and consider how long that same journey would realistically take.

..30years?.. not tru jare

You would have crosschecked it independently before saying "not true". May be a quick google search could've helped.

The capital was moved to Abuja in 1991, after 31 years as official capital (since independence).

And another shocker, if you count back from 1914, the year of almagamation, then we are looking at about 77 years as Nigeria capital.

Lagos has come of age and is a melting point of all nationalities.

You guys love showing night view of lagos but in the day time its an eyesore. Abuja dont need pictures to prove anything to you. Everything about Abuja speaks volume.

Fact remains that 20th and 21st century cities don't look spectacular in the day time. They only look beautiful at night hence Paris is called the city of lights because at night, the lights are switched on

Another metric Lagos scores higher than anyother place in Nigeria is disaster management. In Lagos, it is superb! Nothing like it in glorified Abuja which is only full of bricks and concrete.

A modern city is also about having an installed capacity to respond and effectively manage disasters. In Lagos, the hotline is 112 and it works! Even from your Abuja, you can confirm this from you ur phone.

Please feed your eyes.

You tell us we are not organized and that we are lawless repeating the same old stereotype of Lagos. But the truth remains you don't have the effective agencies we have that are WORKING. Here is one!

Slowly, people are begining to subtly admit it. Now they are giving excuses for why Lagos is superior to Abuja.

Yes you have a minister and we have a governor; but you have a president and we don't have any! Not having a governor is no reason not to have good working agencies to manage your society. Is no reason not to support the groups of unprofessionals who are in charge of your society by providing them with advanced training and equipment with which to work.

Good vision and having the political will to do those things is what brings them about.

If you want to enjoy Lagos, live close to where you work. Honestly, you will enjoy it at a cheap rate. There are beaches everywhere and you can organize weekend trips. Cheap hotels for weekend relaxation, markets and shopping malls de plenty, food joints, and so on. Enter hotel, pay little and swim throughout. Booming businesses and thriving night life. Uber, taxify and local cabs are plenty

For Abuja, green trees, good road network but can be boring. Ajebutters are plenty here with too much forming. Cheap food but expensive accomodaton.

You can compare the two, if you like a cosmopolitan city, chose Lagos but if you like a cool place, with aesthetics chose Abuja.

Lagos can survive without govt fund, Abuja can't.

Just to add a little to the the swimming part: that swimming pool I posted up there is the aquatic center national stadium in surulere. It is well maintained and the only true Olympic sized swimming pool that belongs to the government. With just 1000 Maura, you can have the whole day to yourself if you know how to swim. But if you can't swim, you can learn for the whole day with just 3000 naira

We are the only state in the federation that uses small cars in the police. They even have their own separate logo. Looking at those cars on Lagos roads reminds you of the LAPD and the NYPD.

Oga stop that exaggeration. shocked Which Nyanya would take you 54 minutes to Abuja Airport? At what time of the day? From Nyanya to Abuja city centre between the hours of 7 a.m and 10.30a.m, would take you nothing less than 2 hours. If you have to go from Nyanya to the Abuja Airport, you would also have to leave early, or select a time when the roads would be less congested, in order to get to the airport on time, just like anyone going from Lekki to Lagos airport, would do! sad

God bless you, my brother! shocked A lot of people have been arguing about Abuja being superior or better than Lagos, by basing their comparisons on a very faulty premise. They forget that in Abuja, a number of people live within reach of their offices or not too far from their places of work. For those who live on the outskirts of Abuja, they would also have to leave their houses very early to avoid traffic or combat it, in order to get to their offices in time. undecided

Same thing happens in Lagos. sad Lots of people live far away from their places of work, unlike in Abuja, and traffic congestion makes it difficult to arrive on time for appointments, except you leave early enough to beat the traffic.

Just like you have slums in Lagos, you also have slums in Abuja. angry If you asked someone living in an Abuja slum, if Abuja was a great place to live, his opinion might be different from someone living in the highbrow areas of the capital, or someone domiciled close to the city centre.

That's the lie they tell us. He talks like those of us opposing him have never stayed in the overhyped city before.
Going from gwags to Mararaba takes me 2hr conservatively. add much of the time is spent between area 1 down to mararaba itself. From gwags throug giri down to city gate doesn't take me up to 45mins. And that's on Saturday evening.

However, let me debunk the myth that Abuja is a very planed place: yes it has got a master plan the same way Lagos has got one. But they have failed woefully to learn from the Lagos experience which makes them a worse fool! The master plan is there and has been disregarded already. The government is not building enough infrastructure to cope with the influx of people.

In 2006 census, they were the least populated place in the country. But now, I don't think that's the case anymore as I think there are now more people in abuja than there are people in Gombe state.

How wasteful can they be of their land! The place has an impressive basement rock suitable for building skyscrapers so that much of the land can be left to agriculture and wild life conservation which will make the city more eco friendly, which is the characteristic of a truly modern city...city the future. But no, when you go there, all you see are so many bricked houses with so much concrete which are bulgalows or duplexes. A very good example of this is the army Barack's for retirees in kurudu.
Isn't it a shame that Lagos with no basement rock and a very high water table has a skyline with high rise buildings while Abuja has non?
