Even outside government,ALL the leading hospitals in Nigeria are established and headed by doctors.

Please tell us five leading private hospitals established and headed by Pharmacists, Medical laboratory scientists/technicians, Nurses or the much touted hospital administrators.

who cares about leading hospitals? my point is av seen non doctors having an hospital and making it big and doing well. And also seen pharmacist and non pharmacist having a pharmacy and making it big too. The point is anyone can own anything, be it pharmacy, hospital etc if u av d money and the means.

Nurses have seen shumtin.
I think it's time we leave JOHESU and stand on our own.
And if we leave johesu, that will be the death of that union.
Johesu leaders met with Saraki and collected bribe and betrayed the union.
You called off a strike without a public signed agreement,
They gave you bribe and made an empty promises to you and immediately you call off a strike.
Shame!
It's time for the Nursing profession to leave JOHESU!
We can't afford to be used as foot soldiers all the time despite our contributions to the health sector.
The health minister threatened sack, so what?
Who really depends on salary?
I own a private school and a pharmacy.
So I saw his threats as a joke.
Johesu leaders messed up by collecting bribe.
Shame again.

Happy new month all

Hahahahahaha
Consultant JOHESU.. . Accept my condolence

since others went on strike the doctors that know it all have not been working. why ?
well in luth here johesu members kept telling patients to go back cos doctors are on strike. they had to do this when they realised patients were still being managed without them.

Enof of this nonsense..

In history, there is always the King and the followers..

JOHESU should go and sit down..and stop all this greed of theirs.

A DOCTOR is a DOCTOR. Accept Doctor as the Boss..
Doctor cant be equivalent with Nurse, Lab attendance, pharmacy, etc..

What a Nurse is receiving is juicy and mouth watering..just because is not upto Doctor's salary they are now going on strike at the detriment of the masses.. some of the patient has died.. It can only happen in this country.

Thats very wrong..

It is unfortunate that Johesu ended the strike without achieving anything. The manner in which the strike has been called off, members may not be paid their April & May salaries. The invoking of the no work no pay enshrined in the trade union dispute act of 2004 enacted by a PDP govt but was never used by any of the PDP past govt but by a govt that promised us change shows the height of their wickedness. I strongly feel that Johesu will achieve nothing with this govt still in power. This govt has proven that it is not a listening govt but a wicked govt. I strongly advice Johesu to forget about strike but take the political option by negotiating, alligning & supporting the main opposition candidate in the 2019 presidential election who will be ready to carry out favourable reforms in the health sector. I strongly believe that Johesu members who constitute 98% of the workforce in the health sector will support such move. This struggle is legitimate & such Johesu should not be afraid. If we dont take this option our oppressors will continue as long as this govt remain in power. It should be noted that trade unions usually support political parties that are sympathetic to their cause.it should be noted that the supreme in a landmark judgement of November 8, 2002 ruled that civil servants are free to join political parties of their choice in line with the 1999 constitution. This judgement supersede both the provisions of the public service rules and the 2001 electoral Act both of which ban civil servants from becoming members of political parties. The onus is now on Johesu to take this option for them to bring equity, reforms, appointments, influence decision making & other favourable polcies for their members.

Nigeria has really twisted the mentality of children of these days and you are just a testimony to that fact.

Not everybody wants to be a medical doctor for your information.

For example, a business minded science student will naturally prefer pharmacy to medicine. thank you for this. peeps study course for different motives. That is why you don't see majority of them fighting for hospital job.

I wish you well in your medical carrier but nobody is an impostor here.

Of course, that's how the real world work .
There are non lawyers who own law firms but its best to invest in an area that one has competitive and comparative advantages.

we should encourage
1)mass coverage of Nigerians under social health insurance

2) the privatization of these teaching hospitals.

Why are you still instigating hate?
Who are the oppressors?
Is JOHESU the first to receive the 'no work no pay' blow from the FG?
Resident doctors had the same issue last year as well. They were never paid till today.
I think the policy is a good one because it checkmates all these incessant strike actions here and there.
Why should you stop work and be earning salaries?
It doesn't make any sense..
Stop all these hate speech and let's work together for the good of the common man please..

Medicine and surgery in Nigeria started as what at Yaba tech?
It was even a ND programme

Correct ...they were trained as diploma-holding medical assistants. Just we had medical lab. assistants and technicians.

AMLSN actually used to be AMLTN-association of med lab technologist of Nigeria. We started the agitation to become 'scientists' around 1984, because it sounded better to be called a scientist than a mere technologist!

I was there, and in person, and I do challenge any of these confused and further misled young graduates to dare challenge me on that issue.

Mr. Park, the semi albino vs mullato used to be the registrar of the institute then, our graduating exam was part II IMLT exam, but by the time the certificate came out we had agitated enough for them to change it to IMLS!

Despite the activism, petitions, and protests mounted to prove that we were infact equal to the doctors, the medical lab techs of Nigeria have not updated or even improved their academic syllabus, even up till today.

I have friends teaching in Ibadan, Enugu and Vom Jos.

Are the medical scientists in Australia, UK, USA, Ghana etc called Scientists because ' it sounds better'?
Buffonery at it's height. cheesy
