And where did you get this info from? who told you the doctors are not giving him the nod to play? The doctors say the operation was successful and he is expected back in ten days(8 now), and should even be fit for the opening group match.

Can you compare this with Mikel's case? A fractured arm(elbow) like drogba's can never be aggravated to threaten ones football career. You can never compare that to a knee or ankle injury, where once one plays without proper healing, the effect could be disastrous. Ask Van basten, even our own amokachi suffered same too.

People should give mikel credit for opening up and giving another player an opportunity to excel. Had mikel not spoken up, Lagerback would never have dropped him, he probably would have been buying time until the end of the road for nigeria.
