Corruption Or Natural Disaster: Which Is More Destructive To A Nation? by Onjefu(m): 3:11pm On Jan 04, 2006
Nigeria our beloved country has not really had any major natural disasters such as the Ausrilian fires, huricanes, colossal coastal floads , volcanic eruptions etc , but when I look at what corruption has done to Nigeria in particular and try comparing I wonder which of the two forms of disasters is more destructive to a nation and it's people.

In your opinion which is more destructive to a nation - NATURAL DISASTERS OR CORRUPTION?

The answer honestly eludes me.

In my opinion, i think the answer is clearly corruption. As a matter of fact, the natural disaster could cause a lot but what really matters is how well the government responds, what goes on in the aftermath of such a disaster. Therefore, if a government is corrupt, there might be little or no response from the governmet to rebuild, develop such a torn zone. We all know that some of these disasters cannot be avoided but they can be checked and monitored in so many ways. Take for example the hurricanes, earth quakes etc the government has centers that monitor these elements and they give warn the people before hand to either evacuate such areas. In conclusion, corruption is the no. 1 killer or destroyer of any nation.

natural disaster is more destructive than man made disaster. corruption is man made, natural gas air polution is man made, oil spilage is man made, civil war is man made. tsunami is natural, huricane is natural. pray that god will not let nigeria see any of those.
