He knows exactly what you are saying but just wanted to discount the Yorubaness of the whole thing out of jealousy.

I'm not talking about the names she used. I'm talking about the theme... she used traditional Nigerian gods (Orishas) and sorcery, not made up stuff. The girl grew up in America, so she is a little more American than Nigerian, but I like that she asked her parents about the Yoruba culture/language and incorporated some Yoruba/Nigerian stuff in it. You have read the book... you want to say you didn't feel connected to some words she used, unlike Black Panther that was purely fictional.

To those dying of envy here and commenting with hate-filled rhetoric, sorry Yoruba's story is one of a kind that hasn't been touched, so save yourselves some tears because you still have a long road of pain with lifetimes of wailing to do when Disney starts acting the stories of the Yoruba Orisas which are 401 in number. What about story of Ifa. And don't even try to steal this idea for your nollywood knockoff.

Can anyone imagine what the comments of people frothing in the mouths here with all sorts of comments from, "why Disney" to "It's a ripof" and everything in between would have been if the name was Ngozi instead of Sade?

Yoruba ronu pelu lakaiye!

Walt Disney doesn't owe Africa anything. They can decide to animate their new Africa princess as a blond with blue eyes.

Okay

Like Marvels like Disney. Time to ripoff blacks everywhere with another overrated nonsense. And many will still fall, because they're "Helping promote Africa and her culture"

Stay Woke.
Marvel and Disney is one and the same company.
