You don't understand;the lower the number of applicants, the higher the risk of not getting admission in UNILAG. UI, OAU and UNILAG got lower applicants because students are aware of the extra fight needed to be considered if at all you are going to even sit for their exams.

An observer with a keen eye,will notice that those costly UNI such as covenant,afe babalola,babcock,bowen et al did not even make this LIST!! So u can understand my befuddlement when some says there're the best

Quite funny how some people now celebrate their universities for making the list! In another words,this is now one of the criteria in ranking universities.

Heard so much about unilag, was so happy when I got admitted to study for a master degree......alas, the best lecturers that taught me there, were the ones on sabbatical from UI and OAU. The real unilag lecturer....hiann, let me not start...anyways was so disappointed at the end of the day......the school wasn't what I expected.


So that school of first choice....na massive wash.

If he is a someone who is academically sound and intelligent, he ought to be aware of this.
About 1.5 million candidates sit for JAMB annually in which more than 60% passed. And the total number of the candidates which all the Nigerian higher institutions both university and polytechnic can admit is not more than 150, 000. But he is not aware of this fact.
Nigeria is already suffering from over population basically because the rate of our economic and infrastructural development is not at par with our population growth.
Unfortunately, we don't have competent leaders in Nigeria. Govt lacks good planing policies. Which is the bane of our development.

This is one of the reason why I like UNIBEN, even though I graduated from UNILAG. Using catchment area is a pure discrimination, there is a certain University in the Southwest that discriminates when it comes to admitting graduates for Direct entry from certain polytechnics/colleges of education.

Lol. I don't know why ppl argue with the fact that UI is by far the best Uni in Nigeria. It is the only Nigerian Uni in the top 1000 in the world. There is more than 800 unis between UI and the next uni on any of the world uni rankings including Time Uni and webometrics rankings. Please, try to crosscheck my figures first before coming to nairaland to argue. Thank u

Uniben don't use catchment area. It is what I know. I have guys that graduated from that school they were never from South-South they got admission on merit.

university of Lagos is actually a good school, one of the best in the country

especially at undergraduate level.

it's just that the thing varies from dept to dept
