By Gbenga Olarinoye, Osogbo The political aspiration of the Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, received a boost yesterday after the Boripe Local Council threw its weight behind his aspiration.

Addressing a news conference in Iragbiji, Oba Rasheed Ayotunde, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji described Oyetola as a responsible, God-fearing and capable person who he said is fit to be governor of the state. Oba Ayotunde, who is the chairman of the traditional council, said that if elected, the APC flag bearer would address the challenges of workers’ salaries and would not retrench workers.

He said, “Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola is our son, and we affirm that he is very intelligent, industrious, people friendly and full of capacity to serve. “We have interviewed his family background, his neighbours, friends and acquaintances, other obas, chiefs and members of the public and found him most qualified to take Osun to a greater height. “We know that he is a financial expert and shrewd administrator who is the best to continue the developmental works which Gov. Aregbesola had been doing.”

There's a clear distinction between ethnicity and capacity to defend, protect and promote Yoruba interest.

To start with, this is not about Nigeria or a national election, this is about a state and local election in the SW state of Osun and issues affecting the state of Osun the SW.

Are the people in the SE/SS/North going to vote in the Osun election based on issues affecting the people in the SS/SS/NORTH?

OBJ as the president of NIGERIA sabotaged and neglected the SW and as serious electorates, your first concern and litmus test per any candidate local or National should always be about the candidate's interest and capacity to look out for your region, your people and issues facing your communities. This is why presidential candidates visit every region and their traditional rulers to issues promises to do the things the people in that particular state or communities long for, including government programs and policies designed to better their local communities.

Lagosians don't have stable electricity today because OBJ sabotaged their effort all because of politics and hatred and lack of care and concern when it comes to the interest of the people of Lagos.

Sabotaging the first IPP in Nigeria, a strong model for stable electricity in Nigeria was one of OBJ's many sins against the SW and Nigeria in general.
