if you guys actually follow the story from the begining you will know that this a sudden twist influenced arbitrarily by FG.why will somebody win over seven cases and end up loosing at the tail end

The truth is the fact that some AC members have been complaining in the past one week that the cash is no longer flowing from Atiku and that coinciding with the truth prevailing sums up what the previous victories are all about.
Sincerely I would have loved this matter to be stretched to the Supreme court while AC keeps on holding rallies, so that before May 29th Atiku go don spend some money.

I'm all confused with all these legal wrangling. I read that the Supreme Court will rule on Atiku's case on April 20.http://odili.net/news/source/2007/mar/30/502.html

Why don't the Supreme Court consolidate all these cases and end the drama.

Confusion after Nigerian rulings

Atiku Abubakar denies allegations of corruption
Nigeria's electoral body has been told to allow Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to run for president in April's poll.
The Federal High Court in Abuja ruled the electoral body lacked the power to exclude Mr Abubakar from the election.

But this contradicts a ruling made hours earlier by a superior court which said the Independent National Electoral Commission could disqualify candidates.

Mr Abubakar became a leading opposition candidate after falling out with former ally President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Justice Tijani Abubakar at the Federal High Court ordered Inec to respect the verdict and put Mr Abubakar's name on the 21 April ballot.

The court verdict is not a blank cheque for Inec to just disqualify anyone

Garba Shehu
Mr Abubakar's spokesman

But earlier, the appeal court in Abuja ruled that Inec can bar candidates who are not qualified to stand for this month's elections.

The BBC's Senan Murray in the capital, Abuja, says that in theory the appeal court ruling will carry precedence as it is a higher court.

Blow?

The vice-president's spokesman dismissed claims that the appeal court ruling was a blow to Mr Abubakar's presidential hopes.
Mr Obasanjo is standing down after two terms in office
Mr Abubakar was indicted for graft by a government ministerial panel which investigated corruption in an oil fund. He denies corruption.

Electoral officials say corruption charges against him would have to be dropped for him to be eligible to run for presidency.

The losing parties in both cases say they plan to appeal.

President Obasanjo is standing down after two terms and Umaru Yar'Adua is standing on behalf of his People's Democratic Party (PDP).

Mr Abubakar, a founding PDP member, defected to the opposition Action Congress (AC) after he fell out with President Obasanjo.

AC is one of the two main opposition parties contesting the election, and continues to hold mass rallies around the country, despite the block to its candidates' presidential ambitions.

those calling prof iwu names should tell us which one iwu should obey?

the beauty of it all is the dramma continues, AC should hold more rallies before the supreme court verdict.

Our judges are clowns.
They have started another June 12 running.

Ok Inec has powers to disqualify atiku and don't have such powers and have powers and lack such powers and, etc. confusion.

But it seems the judgement of the higher court stands. Atiku is disqualified unless the supreme court says otherwise.

Confusion As High Court Rules Atiku Can Contest Election!

An Abuja High Court has ruled that Vice President Atiku Abubakar can context this month’s presidential elections. The ruling came hours after the Appeals Courtin Abuja ruled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has the powers to disqualified candidates.

While the earlier ruling by the Appeals Courtaddressed the general issue of the powers of the electoral body to disqualify candidate for elections in Nigeria, the ruling by the Abuja High Court dealt with the disqualification of the Vice President from contesting

It's good gan sef. Let Atiku run- that way, there can be more division between the president's people and the VP's people.

Only God will help us o!

Atiku Abubakar,So much has been said about this man and in all fairness to him,Today's Judgement is in his best interest.A man must must come to terms with equity.
Here is a man the FBI investigated for corrupt enrichment ,the investigation streached to PTDF as we now know it.
The 1st senate panel that investigated him after the OJO panel found him guilty,
The 2nd senate panel ( REVIEW PANEL) also found him guilty
The EFCC found him guilty also
5 times he was found guilty ,there is no way such a man can qualify to run for elections. If I were Atiku I would be writing to Robert Mugabe for Asylum @ about now because in a few days the EFCC might come knocking on his doors.
The Rule of law and common sense has finally prevailed and It is my hope the Media reports this objectively.
Now the clownish High court has return a different verdict,It is my wish and hope that the supreme court adjucate in this matter once and for all.

Can you imagine? 5 seperate times he's been indicted on corruption. FIVE! And still he shamelessly parades himself, wanting to contest in the elections. FIVE TIMES!!! Even IBB had some integrity to withdraw.

What kind of human being is this Atiku?

IBB is 10times more of a man than Atiku

Trust me if Atiku was OBJ he will not accept failure of third term.

I've stated this before and repeat it here, Atiku's will certainly be consumed by his desperate, blind over-ambition. He has an annoying fixation on the Presidency. He will soon end up in the stomach of the lion.

Anyone who sees anything wrong with this victory against corruption, specifically the disqualification of a known corrupt and ruthlessly ambitious politician must be a scam artist at an internet cafe! Only such people can see corruption as normal.
