Proffdada:this is not true, celibacy and continence were practiced in the early church even before Christianity was granted freedom. It wasn't adopted from the pagans but instead from the teaching of Jesus and his apostles, the practice of the church and an understanding of the old testament. You can read what the early church wrote on it, it isn't pagan. |

No. It is voluntary, and it would be wrong to want to enter the Catholic priesthood and think that you will marry, because they don't have that arrangement. So, you walk into such a work, knowing already that it is meant for those who are single, you shouldn't dream of marrying nor get offended. The matter is clear. However, Gods word urge people to seek out to qualify for such shepherding work. But the bible didn't mandate anyone to celibate to do His work.
