I wéep for my nation Nigeria... Now I do not weep because of our leaders, but rather I weep because there are still ordinary Nigerians out there who still wish the likes of GEJ to continue ruling us and these same set of people are actually still asking where the change is. May God open the eyes of the blind!
It is called "Stockholm Syndrome". It is a psychological phenomenon in which hostages express empathy and sympathy and have positive feelings toward their captors, sometimes to the point of defending and identifying with the captors.

Most people comment on nairaland just to be noticed or seek attention.
They never have the interest of the nation at hand.
One can easily spot out the difference in the figure. Only the budget for the First lady even more than the amount budgeted by the current administration.
I can never regret voting or supporting Buhari. God sent PMB to come and take us back to the promise land.

Where are those useless wailers deafening us about the 70million PMB wanted to expend as too much.
Thank God for records, so this was what that clueless drunk was wasting all these years.
No wonder our reserves fell to an all time low under him, yet his foot soldiers will still want Nigerians to have voted him back.
Chukwudi44, where are you to explain this

20million for 1000 children, thats N20,000 per child for a party, in a country where policemen are paid N15,000/month

whoever is organising that party will be smiling home with a minimum of  15million in their pocket!

Good job Jonathan, will say it again this independence day celebration will hunt GEJ for the rest of his political career

See prophet!

Jonathan should be wise in spending. N6.6bn is a welcomed adjustment but the people will like to see maximum N2bn

You said this 5 years ago.
Kudos!

This is what Jonathan spent in 2010. Tonyebarcanista you and your wailers should come and defend this
ladi02:
FOR  the  second time  within two weeks, President Goodluck Jonathan has  sent  an amendment proposal to the National Assembly on 2010  Appropriation  Act.

The  first was on  the revenue framework to be based on revising the  assumptions for oil production of 2.2million barrels per day and oil price benchmark of  US$60  per barrel.

The first  revision will imply aggregate revenue for the federal government budget of N2.392trillion and a  deficit of about N1.829 trillion based on the  proposed amended budget’s  level of expenditure.

However, the latest, which is the second request  dated July 7, 2010 and addressed to the Senate President, Senator David Mark, was to seek  adjustment to some sub-heads and  a  downward  review  or removal  of some allocations to some of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

The affected  MDAs  which have their allocations reviewed or completely withdrawn were Office of Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation, the Ministry of Women Affairs, the Ministry of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Ministry of Aviation, the National Planning Commission and the National Assembly Office.

But the amendment still proposed a total expenditure of N6.6 billion for the celebration of Nigeria at 50.

The fresh proposal indicated that the Office of the SGF  would now spend N3.3 billion instead of N6.3 billion, but other subheads had been added to the reduction made by  President Jonathan.

A breakdown of the new proposal under the SGF office shows that 50th independence anniversary parade will cost N860 million, branded gifts and souvenirs N450 million; accommodation and logistics for invited guests N700 million, while security and protocol will cost N400 million.

The Ministry of Information and Communications is now to spend N1.7 billion instead of the earlier N1.2 billion. The ministry will spend N1 billion on special reports, N400 million on publication of compendium and N320 million for jingles and adverts.

Aviation Ministry is to spend N2.2 billion on Abuja Airport renovation and provision of additional parking space and equipment for safe airport parking at five airports at the cost of N250 million.

First Lady, Mrs. Patience  Jonathan, will spend N50 million  on  visits to special homes, orphanages, prisons and selected hospitals, while N20 million will be used in sponsoring a special session of the National Children Parliament and another N20 million  will be used to organise a party for 1,000 children.

Other ministries to spend part of the anniversary fund include, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, N600 million; Ministry of Culture and Tourism, N820 million; State House, N215 million; National Assembly Office, N100 million and the National Planning Commission, N135 million.

This thread should also be moved to the front page so that people can read and decipher for themselves who is telling the truth between Apc and Pdp. Nigerians really need to know if "El-Rufai Lied On Independence Expenditure".

Moderators please do the needful.

Besides, topics like this on the front page attracts more visits..

Lalasticlala, take note please.

Thank goodness this was archived.

Only delusional wailers would believe Jonathan spent less than N70m on the independence celebrations.

Just imagine N400+ million budgeted for 'souvenirs and gifts' alone. What audacious thieves those people were.

Hopefully this triggers a thorough probe into all past independence celebrations since 2010.
