I am just wondering. Why do people choose Canada over Australia even though Aussie seem to pay better wages than Canny? Or am I mistaken lipsrsealed

Are there any differences between these two countries? And how do they affect immigrants?

Please state your opinion smiley

I am presently in Australia. It is true, they pay higher wages here. However, Australia is very good at marketing itself to the rest of the world as the perfect destination. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to get a job for your level. They'd rather want you to do menial jobs. (And make you pay hefty sums for stupid training courses with no guarantee for a job). Also, the cost of living is quite high.

Not everyone does that. Anyone who lives big here and does menial jobs abroad didn't do his homework well. Go with a skill and avoid those nonsense jobs.

1. People rush to Canada because the Express entry is cheaper, and the requirements are easier to meet than that of Australia.

2. Canada is closer to the Big Bother country aka USA.

very true.

In addition, Canada gives you permanent residency with priviledges close to that of citizens while Australia places you on a visa. Some of their visa categories are even worse; no medical coverage or free education for children.

Canada and Australia have very similar programs.
You would also get all full rights of an Australian with the exception of voting in some elections and not able to apply for some security sensitive position. This is also same as being a PR in Canada.

However, I do not know if education and health is free for people on temp visa or children of parents on temp visa unlike in Canada.

Same applies here in Canada too. Infact, I've met with a couple of people who moved to Canada from Australia (due to immigration complexities), and they told me they'll move back to Ausiee in a blink of an eye due to the limited opportunities especially for professional immigrants.

I know of only one person, a friend that moved to Canada too from Australia. She said her family would move back to Australia due to the lack of opportunities for her and her husband in Canada. The husband has a Phd from Australia while she was on a dependent visa. They came to Canada due to the immigration process complexity in Australia too.

I always told her to be patient. I lost contact and don't even know where she is now.

One man's meat is another's poison. Canada has been good to me even thought it was rough initially.

Hmm!! made a good point, but what are the necessary skills one need to have before relocating, since our paper certificate won't give us job their, unless we go for higher studies like msc or PhD before we could fit in, kindly talk on the skills, cos I want to go and learn driving forklift, is it good?

Forklift is good but other smarter skills include freelancing, get professional certs from edx like data analysis and other IT skills like a full professional Microsoft cert from edx ($1000 cert cost).

Those with access to capital can go for the ultimate jugular which is eccomerce.

You can study those courses irrespective of background. Eg read here https://www.edx.org/course/data-analysis-for-social-scientists-0 from mitx.
Some of these courses can be used to work anywhere or count towards graduate studies abroad.

You're absolutely right, patience is key here.

This forklift driving is overrated. With the way factories are being automated how many forklift drivers do you see around,

For example, companies in Switzerland as strict as it is employ foreigners (non-eu citizens) with background in data analysis or it skills generally. Data analyst have starting salaries of about $70k per annum there and edx courses are accepted.

Everywhere have skills in demand and is left for you to know these skills and work towards it.

Not overrated but depend on your locality, there are heaps of warehouses that can't do without forklift.

What's your background?

The best job demands are not taught in school. Eg digital marketers are in demand worldwide and can also work remotely.

Others include copywriters, etc. These skills can be learnt by anyone irrespective of your school background and mostly cheap or even free at sites like skillshare or edx.org
