Islam touches all aspect of man's life. The religion teaches all good norms needed to be a unique being in the society. Part of which is honest. We all know people (buyers and sellers) today, are now more transacting with honest. Some raise the price of goods to twice the marked price and insist he makes no profit.

So, this thread seeks to give virtues of being honest in business.

Hazrat Abu Sa'eed Al Kudri (Radiyallah Aneehu (R.A)) narrates that the Prophet of Allah (SalaLohu Alae Wasalam (S.A.W)) said, "The truthful and trustworthy trader will be in the company of the Ambiya (Messengers), Shuhada (martyrs) and Siddiqeen (righteous) (Tirmidhi).

The rank of martyr is well known; his sins are forgiven before his blood touches the ground. It is good fortune of honest trader that he will be in such lofty company on the Day of Qiyamah.

With virtue, there are also warnings for the dishonest trader.

Ubaid ibn Rifa'ah narrates from his (R.A) that the Prophet of Allah (S.A.W) said, "The traders will be raised as sinners on the Day of Qiyyamah except the one who had Taqwa-was pious and truthful.'' (Tirmidh, Ibn Majah, Musnad Ahmad).

In conclusion, Honesty, truthfulness and trustworthiness earns one respect in the community. The benefits of honest trade are immeasurable whilst the harms of dishonesty are devastating.

Brethren, let us be honest!
