Please fellow NLNG workers, I dont seem to understand how we came to the conclusion that NLNG will require between 80-100 people, sincerely I wish they will take more people but where did this information originate from. Please help me out I really will like to know. Thanks.
Re: Which Way Nlng? by jenks(m): 9:35am On Jul 27, 2007
@ehido, i heard from a guy working there dat they need about 80. and 2 them, dats quite a large number.

Re: Which Way Nlng? by tblack3: 9:44am On Jul 27, 2007
@ seat 1 t black, ehido,there was an internal memo released in NLNG(a month before advert was released last year) stating that they need 80 people for management trainee, this is confirmed

At times like these we owe ourselves one thing: strength; we must be strong for those we love, and for those that are dear to us. We must be strong.

I want to share with you all a Discourse on Light and Power:

Lumen. Light. That which can be clearly seen is illuminated. By light. Light is symbolic of clarity. Good deeds are also seen as those done in the light. 'Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven above.' Jesus was referring to rectitude and proper moral conduct, both of which are inspired by the Holy Spirit, the Father of Light. Through light, our thougts are sped toward the understanding of everything that is good, and right and just. Through light, we are fed with numerous graces. We are filled with the refreshing presence of the immutable triune God, Yahweh. He is our Light, the Light of lights, and Jesus is referred to in the Nicene Creed as Light from Light (and true God from true God), without beginning or end. The Book of Genesis also tells us that the first thing God made was Light: 'And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.' The Bible also refers to Jesus in these words: ', and His light was the light of men, [a light] which Darkness could not subdue.' The Presence of immeasurable Light. Lumen Christi, the everlasting God. Our Light.

In our lives each day, the Light of the Holy Spirit fills us with a unique consciousness of our desire and call to perfection. 'Be ye perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect.' Light makes us aware of right behaviour. In Mundialism, the Ages 1 to 30 are the ages of Personality, where the presence of the Light of the Spirit makes us always do the right thing (Cf Psalm 14). Through the Light of the Spirit, we are able to choose what is right, especially as we realize that without doing the right thing, we make countless mistakes and come to misfortune. Light gives us a sense of right conduct and proper adaptation to the human environment, and makes us marture, and wise. Light gives us mastery over our condition, because we see clearly what is happening in our lives, and are better able to handle difficult situations. And through mastery, we acquire power.

Potentia. Power. That which conquers and subdues is empowered. By power. Power is symbolic of authority, and all of life is but a question of authority. Power, which is an overflow of Light, as obtained from knowledge, experience and conduct, makes us capable people. People who shatter the blocks of true progress. In the Psalms, David said he pursued his enemies and did not rest until he had brought them down; then, having brought them down, he crushed them to dust. But Power comes from God. Jesus told Pilate, 'You would have no power over me, except it was given to you from above.' And indeed, the Bible says: 'It is vain to put your trust in the horse, for despite all its power, it cannot save.' This, in spite of the proverbial horse power that has been useful source of mechanical energy for thousands of years. In the Bible, we see countless examples of the saving power of our God that 'visits us from on high'; the stories of: David and Goliath; Gideon; Elijah and the 450 prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel; Moses and Egypt; Joshua and the Walls of Jericho, and so on. God is power. Yahweh Sabaoth. Again, 'I can do all things, through Christ that makes me [powerful]' (Phil 4 v 13).

'And so we shall not be afraid when the earth gives way; when mountains tumble into the depths of the sea, and its waters roar and seethe, the mountains tottering as it heaves, [because] Yahweh Sabaoth is with us; the God of Jacob is our [Power].' This saving power of our God gives us courage. And is tied to faith. The Bible says: 'Be not decieved, for it is only faith that moves God.' Amen. Let us briefly go over the story of David and Goliath. David had come to the war front to see his brothers; he saw instead a foolish Phillistine haranging the people, and so asked to be allowed to fight him. Everyone felt he would be killed by the giant Phillistine, Goliath; but David drew power from God, and marched out to engage the fiend with only 5 stones and a small catapult. When the giant saw him, he asked, 'Am I a dog, that you come to me with a catapult?' And he cursed David. David retorted, 'You come to me with sword and spear and javelin; but I come to you in the name of Yahweh Sabaoth, whom you have insulted. This day I shall feed you to the vultures, so that all may know that there is a God in Israel.' Ngwa ngwa, David slung his catapult and struck the Phillistine, whack! And the mighty fool died at once.

'I will praise You, Yahweh, for You have rescued me
And have not let my enemies rejoice over me.
Yahweh, I cried to You for help
And You, my God, have rescued me;
Delivered me to life from those who sink into the grave.
Sing psalms to Him you who love Him,
Give praise to His holy name;
His anger lasts but a moment, His favour all through life;
At night there are tears, but joy comes with dawn.
I said to myself in my good fortune:
Nothing will ever disturb me;
Your favour had set me on mountain fastness,
Then You hid Your face and I was put to confusion.
To You God, I cry; to You, my God, I make appeal:
What benefit would my dying be, my going into the grave;
Can the dead give You praise or proclaim Your truth?
Yahweh listened and had pity; Yahweh came to my help;
For me You have turned my mourning into dancing;
Yahweh, I will praise You for ever.
(Psalm 30).

May Yahweh give us His Light and Power, so that 'hard as they (may) have harried us since we were young, they [will not] overcome us' (Psalm 129 v 2). Amen.

Lumen et Potentia!

hey ppl, how are we all doing? sorry i dont post much, but i always read through everyday! i think i have a topic we could all talk about on this forum. far away from how many NLNG are goin to take and what no. wuld be engineers and all dat.

lets all assume we will be taken for now, and lets talk about if taken, what are we currently doing, wat courses did we study, where will NLNG most likely post us (bonny or lagos), and wat we wuld be doing in dat department. i think it wuld be an interestin topic to discuss on; i hope!

if i shuld start, i wuld say, i studied mech engr, currently in nnpc (mech & elect. dept.)(we deal on mainly on preparing and evaluating technical and commercial contract documents), i think i'll be posted to bonny, and if dats d case, den i think i'll most likely be involved in their power plant or production process.

well, dats 4 me; now its up to u guys!

@jbyno, it's good to hear again from you, I must confess. So you want us to share our capabilities? Fine. Fellow NLNG Hopefuls, Oga Jbyno wants us to share our capabilities with regard to NLNG.

Well, I am a graduate of Mass Communication, and I currently work with Intercontinental Bank Plc as a Corper and as a Relationship Officer. I specifically manage accounts (marketing the bank's products and reactiviating dormant accounts); I also do Human Relations work with the Regional Office, and am my Branch's Amanuensis (I write all Training Reports every Tuesday and Thursday), and I do stenography (preparing Credit Request Summaries and Offer Letters); I am also in charge of Deposit Monitoring on Flexcube Software.

With the foregoing competencies, I think I may be in Lagos, when employed by NLNG; I may be in their External Relations Office, where I will help advise Management on Corporate Social Responsibilty, and their relations with host publics. I may also visit Bonny from time to time to see how Management Policies are being implemented: such as scholarships to the children of host familes; nature conservation and culture; I may also be involved in the publishing of any or both of NLNG's two magazines (I wonder if any of you have seen them), and bringing the website up to date (it is something they have ignored, and is bad for PR); I hope to write press releases too, and to counsel Management with regard to the anticipation of social trends (such as crises in the Niger Delta); predicting their consequences, and implementing planned programmes of action to serve the public interest.

I may also be useful in Sales and in Human Resources, especially manpower resourcing, and performance appraisal; I would also love to inspire the staff, through periodic inspirational sessions, where approved by Management. Above all, I think I want to be an Admin person.

Adrian, Eesah, Jenks, oya tell us: wetin you go do for NLNG?

hi guys,
jbyno,i guex u av the newest idea this house needs to take our mind off this nlng fever for now.i currently work with glo mobile as business development manager and i studied statistics 4m the university of ilorin.well.talking abt my department in nlng,i specialise in evaluation of lab results and drawing inferences on dis bases,i also help the company to project on the xpected quantity of lng the market would likely consume in yrs to come,and the most important thing here is that the nlng needs fact and figures to survive,dis i will always supply when called upon, i spend to weeks on bonny island collating and evaluating test results and the remaing two wks to analyse and present my findings to the management board in lagos, dis is my regular activity wk in wk out in nlng, my work load too varies wk in wk out.

Before I log out for today - because I do want to log out right about now - I want to propose another line of posting that can run concurrently with that proposed by @jbynp (by the way, Obinna did send me a text yesterday; @jbyno I thank you for remembering me and, like I said, it is good to start now making NLNG friends). While we introduce ourselves, I want us to pray for periods. Though I may fall into the error of fallacy ad ignorantiam, I want to go by my earlier predictions concerning the time frames for our being called by NLNG. I said that by August 11, all eliminations would have taken place, and the list of those they want to employ would be ready. So, from now till August, I want the special prayer point to be concerning our not being eliminated. Henceforth, and in keeping with the foregoing, I will begin all my posts with: NLNG, I'm in-o!(then I would go on with my post - some sort of a social signature; you know: like PDP, Power! Power to the people, PDP!) So, NLNG, I'm in-o!

cheesy Crazy fun; tell me about it! I'm actually enjoying this. cheesy cheesy cheesy

Re: Which Way Nlng? by jbyno: 10:09am On Jul 30, 2007
cool NLNG, i'm in o!

Nice one kuwena! u seem to have a precise idea of wat u might do for NLNG. dats good!

just out of curiosity, while we talk about wat we are currently doing and wat we wuld most likely do, i wuld want to find out if anybody has gone to bonny b4?
wats it like workin 4 NLNG in bonny? do dey provide accomodation, feedin, transportation and all dat, 4 their workers? thesame question goes for those employed in lagos!

by the way, dere's somtin about dis trainin skul issue! wen i was done wit my interview, we had a little chat wit one of d assessors, and he said dat d story of "training skul" is not how we think it is. he said we will be first attached to work under experienced people for some time, to find out where our interest lie, b4 sendin u on trainin on dat particular field.

so, dont just expect to be travellin anywhere for the time being!

I wuld hav loved to though! grin
Re: Which Way Nlng? by Graces: 2:30pm On Jul 30, 2007
hi peeps (especially corpers in d house)
i know we are all counting down seriously. but we must always take time to pause and think about how God has kept us thruout this one year.life, good health, journey mercies, living amongst strangers, NAME IT !

as for nlng, i will be working in their corporate planning or treasury department. since i am a 'figures' person, anywhere that has to do with numbers is cool with me.

@jbyno, how can u be asking such? A whole nlng will SURELY provide feedin,transprt, accomodation. my boss in the office said he has been to their bonny site before and he said the place is the tightest (as in bam) place he has seen in naija. by the time, he fininshed describing it ,

as for lagos office, their buses are available to pick u from ur house and drop u in the evenin. closin time is 5 and accordin to the source , even your oga will follow the staff bus so there is nothin like working late and missin d bus.

yeah, we also asked the assessor after the interview, he says most if not all of the engineers and technical staff will be sent abroad for training for like a year but non-technical staff will not be sent. instead they will train them after a year i.e. when their boss has filled their appraisal form indicating where they will need trainin.

travel, trainin or no training, by the time these people finish payin u cool cash, you will have enuf money to travel to whereever u want.

lets keep the prayers up. dont get tired. i surely believe i will get the job by God's Grace, not because of my performance in the interview or qualifications but because of GOD'S GRACE.

NLNG, I'm in oh

@kuwena,its good to be back.just got into abuja yesterday after a battle with malaria.thanks 4 d encouragement.i must make u understand one fact,u are d most respected person on this thread.never 4 a moment feel that we will leave all d posting 4 u to do.as d Liverpool football club motto goes'you will never walk alone'.this is clearly and unarguably d most interesting thread on this forum and u play d greatest role.be fully assured of all our support
Re: Which Way Nlng? by adrianic: 5:51pm On Jul 30, 2007
@Ehido,u asked a good question about d number of people nlng wants.i may be wrong and please correct me if i am.dont u think dt questions like dt show a doubt in ur mind.i do not care what number nlng wants,all i know is dt like kuwena,u,jenks,Graces and all the other lovely souls dt have booked a flight ticket i must be in dt NLNG train.when God makes up his mind to help u ,all permutations by man become inconsequential.i am GOD'S PERSONAL CD.u know d effort pple put when they want to do a personal CD(I.E during nysc)d only difference is dt God puts in no effort,He says it and it comes to fruition.i know those dt have booked a ticket on this forum are not even up to 40,so if they need 80 how is dt my problem.i am reminded of the story of st .Augustine.he was such a terror to his society that his mum perpetually cried and prayed dt his soul should not be lost.she always went to her local bishop to complain and wail.one day out of her desperation,she said out aloud'O God,do not allow my son to perish'.the Bishop told her'a son of such tears can never be lost'. i am so confident dt people of this kind of faith like i have seen on this nlng thread CAN NEVER be left out.lats forget about d number they need.God never starts what HE will not complete.we are blessed now ,have u forgotten?and'WHO WAN CURSE D MAN WEY JESUS DON BLESS'
Re: Which Way Nlng? by adrianic: 6:13pm On Jul 30, 2007
@jybno,nice idea.it will really help ease off d stress a bit.i studied law at the university of Ibadan and the Nigeria law school.i was at Enugu campus.i presently work with Crown Continental Limited/enrich systems.its a private company situated in wuse,abuja and i am the chief legal officer/P.A to the Director of Operations.i draw up the contracts of the company,liaise with the corporate affairs commission and prepare all the legal documents needed,prepare my boss's speeches, seminar papers and schedules.i expect to work in the legal dept of nlng which i think should be in lagos.i also love to write .so when its time to publish the mag,it would be a great honour working with kuwena and other like minds.
Re: Which Way Nlng? by adrianic: 6:22pm On Jul 30, 2007
i 4got to add dt i would also expect to play a role in settling disputes of the company.i have a strong bias for alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.this basically involves settling matters in ways different from going to court to litigate, for example,using arbitration,mediation,conciliation,negotiation etc.it saves companies millions of dollars and keeps all parties happy.if the dept. or sub-dept.does not already exist,i hope to be able to convince mgt. on d need for it.
Re: Which Way Nlng? by adrianic: 6:39pm On Jul 30, 2007
good people,its time to close for the day.do u guys remember d part of the Bible where GOD commanded Moses to bless d children of israel like this;
MAY THE LORD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU
MAY HIS FACE SHINE ON YOU AND BE GRACIOUS TO YOU.
MAY HE LOOK UPON YOU WITH KINDNESS AND GIVE YOU HIS PEACE.
This applies to us more than we can ever understand.
take kia pple.

For those of u wondering about what NLNG Bonny Looks Like, From my friend that serves in PH he said he has been there, He told me that that place is just a place to be he told me he cant describe it its just out of this world. I cant say about the Lagos office, but u know the traffic and everything in lagos makes lagos very unattractive compared to that plce Bonny. There you will work and live there, Men I just cant wait to get in.
