Slavery is evil but the bible supports it why? also, you see pastors just preaching about all the nice side of the bible and not the bad parts.

Ephesians 6:5 - "Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ."

Colossians 3:22 - "Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the LORD."

1 Timothy 6:1- All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God’s name and our teaching may not be slandered.

titus 2:9-10- Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, 10 and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.

Guy, You need to do your researches very well before coming online to make mockery of your yourself.
The events in the bible happened over 2,000 years ago and by then slavery is still a good thing.
Did you know that slavery still happens till today in some part of the world like in our dearest country.
I'd have loved to quote some bible passages but I'm not a christian.
#ciao.

Slavery stems from man-kinds' historic inhumanity to mankind - “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?" -Jeremiah 17:9. Also concerning the heart, the Lord Jesus Christ says -"For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies." - Matthew 15:19

While GOD commands those in a position of servitude to be obedient, doing what we are tasked to do/whatever we do "heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men. Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ." -Colossians 3:23-24;

GOD also commands those who find themselves captors and "masters" (something the Op left out) - "And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him." - Ephesians 6:9

Also, "Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven." - Colossians 4:1, and as far back as the exodus -

Also you shall not oppress a stranger, for you know the heart of a stranger, because you were strangers in the land of Egypt." - Exodus 23:9 (Jeremiah 22:3, etc, etc).

So Op, the Bible doesn't, as you put it, "support slavery." It does many good things, including identifying it (as reality); and as a law book - prescribes and proscribes actions for those to whom it pertains - to us all.

It doesn't support slavery just like it doesn't support divorce.

But the bible says the lord never changes, if he did nothing about it, then that means he is ambivalent towards slavery or thinks it's a good thing.
