If I should get enough capital, I will just destroy Nigeria with high tech. I just discovered I am above 90% of Nigerians in technology but oyibo pass me hence do start small dey hard. Not bragging but naturally I understand all these without anyone telling me

Anegbettedude:
I have seen lots of complaints about this issue, i hope this does justice to such complaints. When a battery is being charged, the electrolytes near the electrodes (both positive and negative) receive the charge first and then it disperses throughout the battery. The latter is a slow process.
So if charging at a higher rate, only the part near the electrodes get charged up and shows full charge voltage of 4.2V but the parts farther from the electrodes haven’t received much charge yet.

Actually the rate is slowed significantly once you reach 80 percent(provided you are using the charger your phone came with and then again when it reaches 95 percent but actually it is slowing down once each percentage is crossed but only significantly at about 80 or 70 percent depending on if you are using the original charger.

Once the battery reaches closer to full charge if the charging current is not reduced it leads to release of gases which expand the battery and can even cause it to explode your phone and kill you or disfigure you.

To prevent this your phone is charged in a 3 stage or 2 stage charging method where from 15 percent to 80 percent a lot of current is allowed to enter your phone Once it reaches 80 percent it reduces charging rate and thus tries to stop any damage due to expansion of battery by gassing and this is further reduced once it reaches about 90 percent where the charging current is further reduced and after this the current drops slowly and charging from 99 percent to 100 percent takes the most time.

Na lie joor my camon x charges with the same speed maybe it's because of tecno speed of light in it from 0 to 100 no dulling at all but I notice the phone and charger gets less hot once it gets to 90 but that doesn't mean my camon x will keep me waiting before it gets me to 100 infact if there is anything I adore so much about camon x it should be the charging speed, lasting battery and smooth browsing experience but I dislike the hios in it I wish it's pure Android one everything for Don dey perfect

My tab charges very slow from 5% to 50%. Then charges fast from 50% to 90%. When it get to 99%, just to add 1 more % to make it 100% will take like ages to happen.
Though when it gets to 100%, it will stay like that for long before droping.
Re: Why Charging Speed Slows Down After Reaching 90% by Kei144(m): 8:45pm On Nov 06
In 2- or 3-stage charging, charging begins with a constant current--constant-current charging. Due to constant-current charging, battery charges fast at a linear constant rate given by

V α It

The battery voltage V is proportional to the constant current I times time t.

When the battery voltage reaches the allowed maximum of 4.2 V, the charging circuit switches to constant-voltage charging, in which the voltage applied to the battery is fixed at 4.2 V. From this point, the current drawn by the battery, and hence the charging rate, decreases with time. When the current drawn by the battery decreases to zero, the battery is fully charged.

Oh, my dear Chemistry

How I loved that subject

I like every topic in it, both organic and inorganic Chemistry

Yes, this post reminds of electrolysis in Chemistry

I loved those calculations at the time

It's over 15 years now

How time flies cry
Unfortunately for me, it took me alot of time and energy to learn.. That was then though

But aren't modern day phones designed to stop charging at 100%?

I used to assume the reason for that was that the initial charges 1 - 80/90% don't have much resistance from the battery due to emptiness.

I like your thought. May not be correct but I smiled cos you reasoned like I would.

Quite informative. I've been wondering for years why it slows down towards the tail end of the charging process.

I noticed it too, at 99%

True
When it gets to 99% it can stay long before hitting 100%

Mine does all, that have been mentioned too
