Delta Guber Candidate Promises N30,000 Minimum Wage If Elected by NairaMedia: 9:31am On Nov 30, 2018
O’diakpo Obire, a governorship candidate of the Progressive Peoples Allianc (PPA), has vowed to implement the N30, 000 minimum wage for civil servants in Delta State if he is elected the governor in 2019.
Obire gave the assurance in Abuja while speaking to newsmen during a book launch by former President Goodluck Jonathan, saying that Delta civil servants deserve nothing else but a better living condition.
He promised to implement an efficient and effective civil service package that would drive his sustainable development agenda.
He said: “It behooves on me to pay the civil servants their wages so they can put in their best in the service. I will ensure prompt payment of salaries because no responsible government gambles with the salary of her workers.
“The choice of who to govern the state is between the old and the new, between corrupt, nepotistic governance and innovative governance. While I represent the new and innovative governance, the others in the race belong to the old order that must give way for us to make sustainable progress.”
“I am calling for the supports of both the youths and the old because we can do it when we both agreed to do it. A lot of people have tried it and they made it and l know that with your supports, we have no doubt that with their backing and supports; we will all walk into government house to give Deltans what they have been yearning for.
“We have tried the old, now let us support the ‘Not Too Young To Serve’ in order to change the face of the state, where the youths will have a voice and be a beneficiary of government programs in all sectors of government.”
