Please do not let anybody frightened you with the cancer stuff. What kills faster is fear and emotional instability. It is a good thing that you sleep well and you don't cough out blood.
Have you done culture of the phlegm that comes out with your cough? What is your work environment like? Does it occurs even when you sleep during the day?
You may need to see a specialist doctor. But I will also advise you to try holistic detoxification and supervised fasting.

If it was tuberculosis it would have been detected a long time ago. He is obviously suffering from an after effect of a probable tuberculosis he suffered before. I personally suspect Aspergilloses.

@OP, your best bet is to see a consultant respiratory physician in any of the reputable teaching hospitals in the country.

Follow the advice of pacificman, georgeceekay or lexusgs430. In addition get a second or third opinion from a respiratory physician or cardiologist.
If your have been coughing for for years and you are not yet dead, you are unlikely to have tuberculosis, cancer or heart disease. There is hope.

There are a lot of underlying medical conditions that could be responsible for the persistent cough being experienced by the op.

Go traditional bro. I can't remember what my mum gave to my friend who had similar issues. But the stuff she gave it's like an animal fat which she puts in a metal spoon and heats it before it's taken. Ask for anything like this when you meet any traditionalist especially those aboki

This could be an allergic reaction to even some drugs that you might be using for treatment of another ailment. My mum coughed for close to 3 years, we went to Me Cure at Oshodi, we went for tuberculosis tests and HIV Hepatitis B, you name it. Until she went to one pharmacy shop and the in-house pharmacists just asked her if she had any other condition that she is treating at the moment, and she replied that she has been taking drugs for her heart condition. she mentioned all the drugs that she has been taking all the 3 years and he just spotted out one of them and the reason for her cough. as soon as she went back to the hospital and complained they gave a substitute for that drug and that was the END of the 3 years curse of cough.

Go to a good hospital with a chest clinic, and specifically ask to see a chest specialist. Nairaland isn't a place to seek opinions regarding these kind of conditions. The opinions you will get here would range from the ignorant to the downright dangerous. I see a lot of comments suggesting it might be cancer, bronchitis asthma, TB etc. However, the fact is that no one here remotely knows what it is.

I sincerely hope and pray it isn’t cancer. Besides if it is cancer I’m not sure it wouldn’t stay 4yrs without doing a severe and noticeable damage to your health.

I’m sure you would have seek all medical services there is before coming on here. Try get your drugs from boots. Their drugs is far better than most others but well expensive, too.
