Your kitchen sponge has more germs than your toilet seat and contains almost the same amount of bacteria as your shit.

You should change them as often as possible
Or use brushes, or a dishwasher or simply handwash

Sponges are very good breeding grounds for bacteria, given the amount of food residue that can stick on and inside the surfaces, and because they are almost always moist, it's the perfect environment for bacteria to grow.

So change that old sponge today!

If you can't change your sponges often, you could try microwaving them every now and then, or soaking them in bleach to help reduce the bacteria load,

This is not perfect however, yet still change your sponges often, very often, very very often
