Great job op and I'm glad you finally killed the snake.
I'm rearing 50 broilers.
Bought them at 2 weeks old at the rate of #450 per bird.
They are currently 17 days old and I have one casualty from possibly complications due to cold.
What are u still doing with kerosene lamp? hey! remove ASAP you are toiling with CRD.

If the area has a temperature below 23°C, use charcoal pot to keep them warm.

Please we no longer use kerosene lamp in brooding birds.

I love this. I also have 5 cockerels rearing them Organically too but I'm just applying scent leaf and bitter leaf. I introduced ginger and garlic recently because of few have cough. This covid 19 spoilt few of my plans, because I was planning buying more but no work no pay.

Great News Guys

I did it at last. The predator has been killed around 3am this morning. Summoned all courage to go out after I heard noise coming from the cages. Unfortunately, there was no way for it to get inside and I simply pointed the torch directly into its eyes and gbaaaam!!! That was it.

After all I have been through and the losses incurred, I will be eating snake to compensate for the emotional trauma it has caused me, my birds, and my two cats (Jumia & Rubbie, of blessed memories).
I really thank God for you had killed it. However, for the prevention of snake in future, I learnt you can plant these two common local leaf (1) EWE ARUNPALE (2)EWE GEGEMU(this I learnt some guys do smoke the dry leaf to make them high) sorry I don't know the English name but I will Google it then send it back to you or if I get the pictures I will send it. I am sure the two are well known leaves. Infact the GEGEMU is commonly used in homes as flowers with table tennis egg like seed, but it has torns all over it. Thanks for sharing all these information with us.

Well, except for the commercial feeds, every other thing used is 100% organic.

List of what makes up my recipe includes;

1. Garlic

2. Ginger

3. Tumeric

4. Apple Cider Vinegar (My most essential)

5. Pawpaw leaves

6. Basil leaves (scent leaves)

7. Christmas Melon (used occasionally)

8. Aloe vera

10. Neem oil (walahi, it works wonders)

11. Red oil.

Can you tell us how and when you applied all these?

I never made FP, but it seems I will start capturing every snake I killed. I kill dozens in a month but I wouldn't mind taking pictures.

Day 7

So for so good. Everything looks good and in perfect condition with the Kuroiler chicks.

Medication given so far;

1. Aloe vera juice + ginger in their drinking water
2. A teaspoon of apple cedar vinegar is also added to their drinking water - a teaspoon per 5liters.

Mortality: 1 (due to pullorum disease)

Are u a vet doctor? Did u do post mortem? How did u diagnose pullorum disease?

Vet doctor? Nope.

The clinical signs were there. Consulted a paravet with a sample and it was diagnosed.

On further investigation from the hatchery, it turned out that there was a major issue with that particular batch. Even one kept complaining of pullorum.

Compliments of the season once more.

Goodness, grin.

Modified

Having explored a few aspect of farming, I will be taking another step into raising poultry birds for Kuroilers production on a mini scale. So, I have made preparation for the incoming day old chicks (50 precisely).

Cost of Buying: N9,500
Transportation: N1,000

Chunkun starter feed: N3,700
Drinkers (4) @250 : N1,000
Feeding trays (3) @ 200 : N600

Charcoal: N2,000
Earthen pot: gifted

Glucose : N200
Apple Cedar Vinegar N3,500
Aloe vera juice: Homemade

Biosecurity gadgets:
Slippers: N150
Nose mask: N500
Izal: N300
Hand wash: 250

I wouldn't mind inputs from experienced poultry farmers.

Thanks

I bought a charcoal pot and quickly realized it wasn't sustainable so I had to settle for a kerosene lamp!
I'm fully aware that I'm risking CRD for the birds and that's why I ensure they have good ventilation so the possibility of developing a CRD is very small.

Day 13

Chicks doing extraordinarily well. Biosecurity has been beefed up in every aspects, observing clean hygiene to the latter.

Medication given so far;
- daily administration of apple cedar vinegar (1 tablespoon to 5 litres)

Mortality so far: 1 (due to pullorum)

My brother stop giving them Apple Cider Vinegar everyday it will burn your weight you only give them once in a while

Day 20 - Organic Kuroilers from DOC

Good Afternoon folks, it's been a positive adventure so far raising birds without the use of synthetic drugs/vaccination/medications.

This is day 20 and so far so good.

Latest addition to their organic treatment
Addition of pawpaw extract 5 tablespoon to 5litre

And

Addition of 5 tablespoon of extracted scent leaves juice.

This would be put in their water for the next 5days.

*Note*: Ginger/garlic and aloe vera is always in their water as a immune booster.

Mortality: 1 so far (Due to pullorum)

Feeding: 1 bag

currently rearing 100 birds 75 boilers and 25 noilers... 12 days old from a day old.. .. 3 lost.. I got them at the rate of #4000 per 50 birds. for the 100 birds that makes it 8k.. with the drugs 2k.. totalled 10k.. bought there feed.. boiler starter 4k.. gotten there cage ready.. broiler is sold here around 5-6k.. in idanre ondo state.. especially during the festive period..

am hoping to sell them during December .... any advice on what to do please... I'm a novice..

Wow, that's interesting. N4,000 for 50? That's approx. N80 per chick. shocked . Are you sure you got broilers?? Then again, it's offpeak period but certainly that price is a giveaway.

Secondly, I have heard of people's success stories in raising birds without vaccinating, or administration of drugs in the very least. It all boils down to how you prioritize biosecurity. So it is very possible.

Best of luck bro!!!
