I still do not understand how she had to be alone, and how the suspect got hold of a sharp object.

I worked as a security personnel with AHS years ago and witnessed how the kids from homes behave. They can become violent when agitated or angry, and the support workers would immediately call the police. When they are being escorted by the police and their support workers (usually two workers) from homes to the hospital, the disturbed kids would fight, kick, punch, and some very bad ones would even spit during handover by CPS to security personnels, psych nurses and doctors at either the Children's hospital or South Health Campus. We would often restrain some to the bed till they are calm. They would get well after spending a week or two at the hospital, return to the homes and be brought back a few weeks later for disturbance and the cycle keeps repeating.

I hope those homes are not having troubles with funding, thereby cutting staff numbers and making the jobs of the case workers more dangerous than it should be. For the kid to be in a home, there is an high chance he is being seen occasionally by a Psychiatrist; hence, may likely walk free.

Someone who has worked in that particular home told me she wasn't even able to complete her orientation. She ran away. Their procedures are not at all on par with other mental health places she's worked at.

Hello seniors,

I have quick question please - do you have to use your ECA to get a job in CA when you land? Or the usage ends after the EE process?

I have a friend too that left 2 weeks ago NCOs of the stress and treatment. The cash is good, but the environment isn't it. She is back to the warehouse she had left earlier. At least, there is security there

Some job application may require it. I applied for a CRA job earlier this year and they requested for ECA.

It ends at the border, very few ask of it. Even another CLB will be requested at times, not IELTS. Just simple English test.

Finally.. I dedicated almost 2:30hrs non stop to read up to the last comment/post . I miss those days I follow this thread bumper to bumper.

Few gbas gbos here and there , please let’s sheath our swords. It doesn’t worth .

Personally, I believe we can all agree to disagree on any issue and that’s exactly what makes us unique individuals.

All my Ogas in the house I raise my two hands to greet.

Landing gist!!
We landed yyx airport 8pm via British Airways. A smooth ride. We are a family of 3 and mil accompanied us. Our little one slept all through the second leg.
We have gotten our SIN. Plan to go to CCIS, get our health card and open accounts today. Also looking for a 2 bedrooms condo with a den in NE/NW Calgary.
Also looking for jobs on weworkremotely.com thanks for the senior that dropped that link ( because of our little one I plan working from home) while hubby is looking for any kind of job to keep body and family. I also plan going into the food industry (looking at Food Safety/ Quality Control)since I studied food technology and food security management. Any pointer will be appreciated

Any WhatsApp group to join?? I’m grateful for this platform and especially to all that have dropped so many advices. May this land Favour us all.

When you go to the CCIS office, ask about the food safety mgt training program for newcomers. It's funded by the authorities, so free for landed new comers

I believe you'll need it to prove degree equivalence if applying for some gov't jobs.

Wow. For someone to pick warehouse over case manager means the work conditions there are really horrible.

A wealthy person has many ways of getting papers. They usually don't game the system. These people come in different ways. Maybe use their life-savings to try to cross into Canada from the U.S to try their luck. Some come for business, maybe they have a business conference, then cross, and so forth. It's easy to judge when you're a Nigerian-Canadian and you enjoy one of the best quality of life. If the roles were reverse, it'd be funny how many people change their perspective. Like they say, "Never mock a pain you haven't endured. Because when life hits you, you might become everything you ever criticized" I'm not a thief, but I'd never judge a poor man who has to steal to survive.
this is quite hilarious and surprising this is coming from you. the same MATERNAL that i know? waow

Hmm. Atleast, she is safe in the warehouse with next to zero chance of getting stabbed or punched. I find it interesting that Mental health wards in hospitals are usually staffed with private security guards and Hospital Peace officers, but those homes are not.
This incident shows the danger of carework and has triggered renewed conversations around the safety of case workers. Alot of them get assaulted, but the report never makes it to the public.

While I agree he can be uncouth (me sef don call am out in the past) in his approach to a discourse, you definitely can't knock the finer points of his argument, especially on this current topic of refugees/elections/Canadian workplace.

The older I become and the more I travel (experience other cultures), there's one truth that becomes more glaring - humans are the same everywhere. It can be very difficult to judge a situation or matter without knowing the background story (I'm still guilty of this, but getting there slowly...).

PS: On a lighter note, those of you at the back that borrowed money from family/friends to make up your POF or changed that line or role in your resume (trust me, I see some LinkedIn profiles of former colleagues and I scream...Lol), oya come out from your hiding place.
cheesy
lol

he is being equivocal on his stance. the same martenal who talked down on a guy who asked a simple question, on this thread, terming him and his agent 419, lol. is now having a soft spot for improvised and deliberate illegality. lmao

Guys ! !! !!! Enough of this pls.

Let me tell y’all a story, I went to bredin here in Edmonton when I first arrived and of the guys working there asked me a question that which stream did I come from?...before I could open my mouth to say via Exoress entry FSW. His colleague said and I quote “ it doesn’t matter you all have PR now” I’m not here to judge anyone on whichever means they find to stay in any western countries .

We don’t know who’s reading this and in the future most of the comments or posts might actually come back to haunt any one of us. Let’s not wash our dirty linen outside pls .

Nobody holy pass , we have cheated or game the system at one point or the other. I’m not encouraging such practises or character but let’s not dwell on it whether they have legit way or not, whether they qualify for refuge or not. IRCC will determine that.

And for the gbas gbos, pls E don do.

Tipping is not a culture I was familiar with back in Nigeria; the practice would normally be "oga!, anything for your boy?" and depending on my mood, i give. It's not the same here; it isn't mandatory but a generally accepted and expected practice and it's normally 15-20%.

Apart from tipping, what other cultural difference have you noticed, experienced or picked up?

Another one that comes to mind is holding the door for the person coming behind you.........
