My Lexus RX330 2005 model car that just arrived Nigeria on August 2018 just started displaying check engine light and VSC sign on my dashboard. When I went to scan I was told it is a catalyst problem which in Nigeria parlance is the indomie. Called a mechanic that removed it to a welder to work on under his supervision. After repairs and installation on the vehicle I'm seeing the check engine sign and VSC. When I took it back for rescanning I was told that even if they work on the indomie the indicators will still come up until I change the sensors. Pls any experience on this particular issue and solution. I'm in Abuja.

It could even be that your spare tyre has gone down. It could also be caused by valve sensor on the top engine. A lot of things. Or even timing chain

To start with what was the scan result let's know which of the catalyst was indicated in the scan result. You have 3 catalytic converter on that vehicle. We need to know which is bad from your scan result

Cat deletes always bring up a CEL. I think there's a method of avoiding that by installing spacers, though. Buy all those 3k scanners, if the CEL comes up you clear it. Kpere.

VSC light may be a host of things: Failing wheel speed sensors, abs sensors, wrong tyre pressure, etc. Have it looked at. I'm not sure.

Yeah sometimes it's not as simple as that but still least getting a scan narrows the problem.

Low spare tire cannot trigger a check engine light. It can trigger tpms light or low tire pressure light.

My Lexus ES 300 is doing the same, I got it service just 4 days ago and right till now it's still showing the check engine light.

So what do I do now sir?

Will ask the guy that scanned it cos I was just told that it indicates a catalyst error on port A

most likely a P0420 or P0430 code( catalytic converter below efficiency)

Your sensors should be fine.
Look for oxygen sensor spacers ( it looks like spark plugs spacers) and install on your catalytic converter. This will fool your ECU that all is well with your catalyst.
Erase codes and you should be fine.
