Elder0001:
Women -- The Gatekeepers Of Patriarchy

When engaging the subject of patriarchy, we rarely acknowledge the contribution women make in endorsing this evil, as it is in the public and exclusive spaces that women hold where patriarchal mannerisms manifest and men are placed on a pedestal, even in their absence.

Patriarchy a system of power dynamics where women are kept dominated and subordinate, and thus, prioritises men in both public and private spaces.

Appreciating that patriarchy is a deep-rooted construct, it means that even within a modern context, it keeps creating obstacles for women to succeed, even if they work on merit. It gives priority to men and the dominance manifests both within homes and in broader society; furthermore, patriarchy finds its strength in that it manages to adapt and find expression even in the changing of social and political spaces, and fundamentally, the buy-in from women to maintaining this 'phenomenon'.

According to radical feminists, in supporting this view, a patriarchal society is one where men appropriate all social roles, placing women in inferior roles, fundamentally so, it is a system which is universal and is not limited to time [Charvet, 1982].

We could then concede that patriarchy will require both men and women to contribute towards changing the status quo, and fundamentally for women to actively participate in changing this culture. Yet the question still remains, how do we place women at the centre of this change?

Firstly, we need to be sensitive to the fact that patriarchy as Lerner [1986:54] argues was not a "one-day event, but developed over a period of nearly 2,500 years at different times and places, from China, Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, Mesoamerica, Africa, Europe and Malaysia, and was formed by both men and women..." [cited in Wood; 2013]. This view was justified by the "rationale that women are emotionally dependent species and men hold the authority and are superior to them".

The definition of patriarchy and practical examples are on the post tho they talked only about how patriarchy affects women publicly without going further on the dangers of patriarchy inside the family system.

Patriarchy (or a pre-defined gender role) is the only organic medium species can survive, sustain, and thrive. A world without patriarchy can only persist with technological advancement that will make men redundant by offsetting their traditional role, and if a global cataclysm that catapults humans back to the stone age occurs, humanity will revert back to ironhanded patriarchy and women with the aid of their hypergamy, will seek protection with the strongest male she can find to thrive in the unpredictable new world.

Furthermore, the so-called patriarchy is not an oppressive force to women that radical feminist has successfully made people believe. Men and women are equal but suitably adapted for different roles. For example, stacking up clothes in a dishwashing machine will more or less, wash the clothes, but it won't come out smooth and fresh as a cloth washing machine will, this is just common sense.

I am a proponent that women indirectly controls the power in our society, even if men are the in the forefront. To this effect, I implore everyone interested in the dynamics of gender relations to read the book by Warren Farrell titled "the myth of male power", and you'll never see patriarchy the same way again as a ruthless force designed by some misogynist to oppress women. The average man love, respect and treat women right, and this privilege is unfortunately changing and making women less happy as men are now refusing to uphold their traditional gender roles since feminism has released women from theirs. And no, mainstream feminism is not about equality, but about female supremacy and special privileges.

Why would they?
Responsibility is a heavy thing to carry and they hate it.

If something goes wrong, she will figure out a way to blame you and attribute it to your manhood (a key handle for all manipulation tactics women use on men)...Even if during the heat of the exchange the blame is "Eh why did you let me do it if you knew it was wrong? Are you not a man?"

This reveals how they see you.
As a mule to take all responsibility for the things she does.
Such a person would not want to be trully "equal" to you because they would prefer to be in a position where they get ALL of the benefits of that relationship but none of it's responsibilities.
That's just a very comfortable place to be for her.

That's just on the personal level.

On the societal level, there is no so called feminist that will like it when a man has her split the bill on a date.

You're trying to "liberate" children who are happy just being children. All their feminism does is makes them more disagreeable and/or want even more benefits. At the end of the day, they will still want you to do the old works.

Feminist sees high positions as some kind of nirvana men occupy and revel in, but to men, such seat carries a huge responsibility that can and usually do break a man. To go out into the world and conquer is not for the fainthearted. I personally know lots of women who hacked the difficulty of life by giving up their jobs, got married to wealthy men and ride away life in fun mode. Mind you, these are classmates that are extremely liberal and espouse the ''strong and independent'' feminist narratives, but couldn't withstand the storm after finishing school, loose governmental student support and have to fend for themselves. The very fact that women can hack away taking responsibilities for themselves by attaching themselves to successful men is a privilege the male gender never had.

Mind you, modern feminism is red-herring and socially engineered that doesn't reflect the situation on the ground. Only people incapable of rational reasoning can't see it for what it is. And feminism can only thrive in advanced countries with generous welfare system, where the government have replaced men by catering for women's subsistence, which shows she needs men to survive directly (dependence), or systems built by men indirectly (inter-dependence).

At least we can agree on a certain thing - patriarchy still thrive because most women still enable support it.

Patriarchy has been deeply rooted in certain societies to the extent that women in those environments find it hard to break free from the archaic system irrespective of their educational status .

I strongly believe if women were to come together and say it’s time for this shît to end there’d be no patriarchy but that surely might not happen anytime soon.

In Nigeria for example, how many women support feminism ? I can say less than 0.50% of the total numbers of women in Nigeria .

In the Igbo tribe for example , a typical Igbo woman will rather agree to be a Slave to men as long as men continue to provide everything she want for her than to agree she’s equal to a man .
so u mean to say that man and woman are equal? I can never be with any woman who believes or thinks like this...men and women have defined roles in society and man should certainly be seen as the head. Anyway for the sake of peace I believe that everyone should simply go for the type of man or woman you want.

i think you miss understood, the problem is women took equal rights into their homes, instead of having equal rights at work aka being paid same salary if going the same job as man

or being allowed high role positions based on achievement and leading skills, than being sidelined based on gender

the problem comes when she tries to muscle working rights into her marriage

as humans men and women are equal, but then the confusion comes in when roles based on human civilasation development are changelled

let me break it down, if you read many books even poor people without land, had no rights to even vote, the land owners had the right to vote then eventually all men above 21 were allowed to vote

woman had to rights to vote at all nor did they had rights to inhert from her own father, the role of the woman was to produce kids and look after the kids

it took years for woman to have rights to vote and accept a woman to inhert (this is from western world) about 24 years ago there was the famous beijing world cobference on woman women fighting for more equal oppotunities and ever since the western world has adapted many changes to voiced equal rights by women

then for africa we are playing check up, and we mix equal rights and gender role, gender roles are defined by beliefs, they can be religion or tradition/culture

so do you classify being equal ? based on gender role defined by what i mentioned above or take a woman as equally as you by being a himan like you nothing more or less

am sure because of mistakes of the past many parents are teaching their daughters to be self suffiecent and not to depend on on man fully becoz you never know tomorrow, therefore gender roles have been adopted to current times, its doesnt mean she wont need a man in her life, she would as husband, friend, companion and the father to her kids

as much as the men is said to be the head of the house its mean he runs every decision NO

whether we accept it or not men and women are not equal. I like to see women as humans who should be pampered, spoilt, and well taken care of even to the detriment of a man. a man should be ready to sacrifice for the women around him not just his wife, mother, or sisters. but when you start teaching men and women that hey are equals you simply bring out the beast in men. you kill values which young boys were taught on how to be polite to ladies, open doors for them, stand up for them to sit and all the little things which make us gentle men. the effect is already telling on me. gone are the days when I used to be corteuos to ladies. I first find out if they are the feminist type or feel men and women are equal and if they are, the long and short of it is that we never get along cos I treat them the way I'd treat a man. let's stop this dangerous mentality that men and women are equal.

And here lies the dangers of telling girls that they are equal to men. I live in the west and such bullshit is rampant here. Men hardly marry women anymore here and see them as competition. Birth rates of most western countries are below replacement rate, fatherless kids everywhere and bitter women who fell for the lies of feminism and came to accept the reality that they are going to spend the rest of their post-vicenarian years lonely. These are women that potentially become cash cows for yahoo boys who promised them companionship that they never had in decades. The chicken will always come home to roost.

Furthermore, The manosphere is growing at an exponential rate and also men that have sworn off women completely. I honestly fear for the future of gender relations, because a deep cut has been made by feminism that after you become conscious of it, it's hard to unsee. Many women here are beginning to accept the reality that men won't pay for dates, won't marry, and see them more as a liability than an asset, even to an extreme point where men are using body camera when interacting with women, to preserve evidence to avoid been falsely accused. And if individuals like Mike Pence (the vice president of USA) follow a rule of not having dinner alone with any woman other than his wife Karen, and avoid close contact with women (also known as ''Mike pence rule''), it just goes to show you how deep the problem goes.

And with the metoo movement, that got men prosecuted for things they didn't even do over 40 years ago (e.g Brett Kavanaugh), it only goes to deepen the problem as men become painfully aware that in the future when you are a grandpa, your interactions with women decades ago can be catapulted to the future to prosecute you, even without any evidence. This bed feminists are making, I hope they can lie on it.

Brother you’ve said it all. What these women doesn’t understand is that all these stupid rules, metoo, equality to men would hunt them in centuries to come because we can all see that it has been hunting them already and it will only get worse.
In centuries to come, vast majority of men would avoid these women and some of them would fall into deep depression because they always crave for attention of which men wouldn’t give them anymore when that time comes. That’s why is easy for yahoo boys to scam white women than their men counterpart because some of them have been lonely for a very long time

This bed feminists are making, I hope they can lie on it.
it's unfortunate that our women are being taught this nonsensical idea of feminism or equality and are swallowing it hook line and sinker. the ones preaching it are certainly not telling them he reality. Linda ikeji readily comes to mind. she, in spite of her wealth, independence, and feminism still begged a man for company and sex yr she came put to preach that women ca do without men. input these nl fools that champion his alien notion.

well spoken brother...

Linda was never a feminist ... her opinions weren’t feministic neither did she claim at one point that she supports the movement .

The fact that she was or claimed to be independent doesn’t make her a feminist.

It is now clear that most Nigerian men still don’t understand the meaning of feminism and its a shame .
