Congratulations ooooooo oatzeal: Senator Babafemi Ojudu has been appointed as the new special adviser to President Buhari on political matters The Senator who represented Ekiti central senatorial district in the upper legislative chamber of the 7th National Assembly, collected his letter of appointment late Tuesday, January 5. ..
Senator Ojudu was a member of the Senate between 2011 and 2015 on the platform of then Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) before it joined other parties to form the All Progressives Congress (APC).
During his stay in the upper legislative chamber, he was the vice chairman of the Defence Committee of the Senate as well as being the spokesman for the APC Senate caucus in the Red Chamber.
Senator Ojudu was one of the active lawmakers in the 7th National Assembly but decided not to seek re‐election in 2015.
However, he devoted his time to workings for the party right from the period leading to its formation, onto the campaigns and the post swearing in activities.
An accomplished journalist, Senator Ojudu was one of the leading media practitioners who devoted their time to fighting military dictatorship during the dark days of the Abacha regime.
This constantly pitched him against the military authorities and he was incarcerated several times, the climax of which was his nine month detention in a solitary cell at the State Security Service (SSS) cell at Awolowo Road Ikoyi. Gazelle

Politics › Re: Search For Lai Mohammed’s Replacement Intensifies by 4ward(m): 8:36am On Jan 02, 2016 |
Lieing is over olatade: Barely two months after the former National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Lai Mohammed, vacated his position, search for his replacement has begun, Daily Trust gathered. An impeccable source within the party, who preferred not to be mentioned, said already some influential party leaders and political groups in the party have started strategizing for their candidates to succeed Mohammed. The out-spoken former publicity secretary was recently appointed Minister of Information, hence making his former office vacant. Daily Trust gathered that so far, some influential politicians from the South-south, South-west and the North have started preparing their candidates for the seat. Among the contenders for the vacant position are Mr. Joe Igbokwe, Mr. Tim Frank, Mr. Rotimi Fashakin and Alhaji Bashir Hayatu, alias Gentile. Mr. Igbokwe is the publicity secretary of the APC in Lagos State and is said to be the choice for South-west politicians, among them former Lagos State governor and APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It was gathered that Tinubu and co plan to retain Mohammed’s seat. Mr. Tim Frank is the current deputy national publicity secretary of the party. He has been a deputy to Lai Mohammed since June 2014 when the National Working Committee of the party was inaugurated. According to a source within the party, Frank is said to be enjoying the support of some influential politicians from the South-south and the Senate President, Bukola Saraki. However, Frank’s loyalty to Saraki, according to a party stalwart might be an obstacle to him in the race. He said: “With the challenges faced by Saraki, I don’t think Frank will emerge the next publicity secretary of the party.” He also said that going by the current internal arrangements within the party in respect of positions, Frank will not succeed Muhammad without some adjustments. However, for the Buhari Organisation, it is high time President consolidates the party by ensuring that his loyalist occupies the seat. In view of this, they prefer the former publicity secretary of President Buhari’s defunct party, Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Mr. Rotimi Fashakin, to be the APC’s next spokesman. Fashakin has a brighter chance of becoming the next APC spokesman for some reasons: One: he has been together with President Buhari and some notable leaders of the APC for a very long time. Two: he knows the job very well having held the position of publicity secretary of the defunct CPC for many years. And three: he enjoys the support of the Buhari Organisation. Next after Fashakin is another out-spoken politician from Kano State, Alhaji Bashir Hayatu, alias Gentile. Daily Trust gathered that, Gentile enjoys the support of two strong politicians and national leaders of the APC. A source close to the two influential party leaders, among them a serving governor in the North-west, hinted Daily Trust that the politicians are preparing Gentile for the job. “The two leaders wanted to encourage young politicians to take over the lot of politics in the country, hence preferring Gentile to replace the former national publicity chairman of the party,” said the source. Like Fashakin, Gentile also knows the job of publicity having served as director of publicity of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in Kano between 2007 and 2011 and director campaign of former Kano State deputy governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo, when he contested for Kano governorship in 2011 under the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). However, Gentile, like other contenders, has some predicaments which political pundits believed might prevent him from emerging the next publicity secretary of the party. Though in terms of paper qualification he is rated high by some political analysts, having obtained a master’s degree in political communication from the City University, London, he is seen by many as not a member of the APC and this could be a minus for him as far as the race is concerned. Another obstacle associated with Gentile was his low participation in the activities of the party, an issue which some politicians predicted might have prevented him from succeeding Alhaji Lai Mohammed as APC national publicity. But Alhaji Idi Bello Giginyu, a political associate of the contender, confirmed to Daily Trust that Gentile is a full member of the APC, having obtained the party’s membership card on February 2, 2014, a day after the commencement of the APC membership registration exercise. According to him, the membership card with registration number KN/NAS/05029282 was obtained at Giginyu ward in Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State. Giginyu said: “After all, having been an active member of the defunct ACN, Gentile becomes an automatic member of the APC since his party, ACN, was part of the three parties that formed the merger to form what is today called APC.”

Politics › Re: 5 Countries Crushed By Oil Price Collapse - CNN by 4ward(m): 7:35am On Dec 31, 2015 |
Abagworo: Countries that produce the world's crude are getting crushed by low prices. Huge budget surpluses are turning into deficits, and generous social programs are being replaced with austerity and cuts. Oil has collapsed below $37 a barrel, compared to over $100 in mid-2014. The global oil glut, OPEC's determination to pump like there is no tomorrow, and slowing demand from China and other countries are pushing oil prices to new lows. Here are the five countries hit the worst.
1 Venezuela
Venezuela has the world's largest oil reserves. Its government has for years used the money it makes producing oil to pay for pensions, health care, social benefits and even to subsidize housing and grocery stores. But now, the economy is on the brink of collapse. Inflation soared over 150% in 2015 and is expected to rise over 200% next year. The government is unable to pay its bills, and food and basic supplies are in short supply. The economic downturn has led to political turmoil. Earlier this month, the country's opposition won a majority in an election for the first time in 17 years.

Politics › Re: I Dumped Nyako For Atiku Because He Gave Me N500 Million- Adamawa Governor by 4ward(m): 11:11am On Dec 29, 2015 |
Lol sanky346: Governor Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa state has provided reason on why he shifted his loyalty from former governor Murtala Nyako to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Governor Jibrilla said the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) donated N500 million to his governorship campaign. Speaking while receiving Jimeta community elders, the governor accused some powerful politicians of attempting to smear his image because he refused to do their bidding.
“Apart from the money from the headquarters, nobody gave me ten naira during the campaign. The former Vice President asked me if we had any financial problem. So, I called the party secretary, Abdullahi Bakari, who put our demand at N300 million. Then, the former Vice President sent N500,000 million through Jauro,” he said.
Atiku, who was elected governor in 1999, was a key political figure in Adamawa State. He left his position as governor to become Vice President after former President Olusegun Obasanjo chose him as his running mate. His deputy, Boni Haruna became governor after his decision to run for the office of Vice President on Atiku-Obasanjo presidential joint ticket on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Okkkk Ponponkon: It has been noticed with dismay and dissatisfaction the continual dumping and channeling of liquid and solid waste by some establishments to drainages. They also puncture these drainages and channel all their company wastes and rejects into it. A typical case is that of Evergreen Hotels, situated along Umuola road by Azuka junction, who have been found culpable of this unwholesome act. This act is unwarranted and condemnable even as Abia Government have expended so much on construction and rehabilitation of roads and drainages in the state. The office of the Commissioner for Environment and all other concerned agencies of the State Government are hereby dully notified of this grievous offense of the Management of Evergreen Hotels on the newly constructed Umuola road drainage, which requires immediate appropriate sanction towards correcting this anomaly. The Government of Abia State henceforth will not take it lightly with any person(s) or establishment(s) who dump refuse or channel wastes indiscriminately or unauthorized places. The general public is hereby warned to desist from such uncivilized acts. |
