From my experience in transport business. start it only if you want to drive the car yourself. if not, my brother and sister, RUN for your life. The business fit give person hypertension especially when you tell your driver to be bringing money daily, these people(drivers) are heartless oo. na their own pockets dem go first hussle for before remembering the owner. if your driver start work since morning and he called you for like afternoon say car spoil, e fit b say na #500 him go give u since morning wey him don start work oo, him go don see his own. na u go fix car which means money no dey 4 dat day. investors are even running from this business because it doesn't pays like before. Nowadays drivers have spoiled everything 1 Like |

Chekitaut is a fraud, deal with him at your own risk. It has been 7days I paid him N180,000 to deliver 30tons of granite and he hasn’t, telling all sort of lies. Better refund me or you won’t do business on nairaland anymore . 3 Likes |

Review of The Income Analysis Invest in Trucking A dump truck is expected to go at least a trip(traffic) of dispatching Granite to Lagos from Ibadan, Abeokuta or from Ijebu, basically due to road work going on Lagos - Ibadan expressway. Cost of Truck Used =N14,000,000 New = N27,000,000 Insurance Comprehensive plan is 5-6% per annum Hence: *For Used @average of 5.5% = N770,000 + N14,000,000=N14,770,000 *For New @average of 5.5% = N1,485,000 + N27,000,000 =N28,485,000 Per trip for Used Truck, the truck is paid between N60,000 – N80,000 Running cost per trip is around N20,000 - N35,000(include Driver's wages & Daily Ticketing) Projected profit per trip in average= N50,000 N50,000 per trip x 6trips per week N300,000 per week N300,000 x 4 weeks = N1,200,000 per month This is monthly income within Abeokuta - Lagos Yearly income = N1,200,000 x12= N14,400,000 Less 35% Depreciation/Maintenance = N5,040,000 Annual Net Income=N14,400,000 - N5,040,000 =N9,360,000 Input in same in New trucks, the only difference is 15% Depreciation/Maintenance. it is expected that profit target for used truck after 2years while new is 3years. The maintenance culture will increse by 10% after this years. honayoplenty: You have a point regarding the selfish drivers, it's always about them. Nevertheless, people are still in the business. My taxi was just two when this thread was created, today, it is five now and I bought them as tokunbo. One just need to have time and be ready to be in charge. By the way, I think it's time for me to look into inter cities now. Intra city is becoming over saturated in my state with all these yahoo boys buying 10, 20 mini buses at a go! 1 Like |

Hi Alexious. I saw a tread where you were asking for 11m to partner for transport biz. Why not start small and then build up from there. Though you seem to be good and sincere. Would have contacted if I have fund and live in Abuja. This tread just reactivated my interest in transportation business especially inter-city. The last time I ventured to the business, intra-city in lagos, I got my fingers burnt. Hire purchase for that matter. I pampered my driver's but they still frustrated my effort. The two danfors were eventually sold off at a loss though with serious lessons learnt. If you are not on ground and always available, don't venture. For hire purchase, ensure the driver drops nothing less than 20-30% of the total cost of vehicle before he starts. This will secure his commitment. People do not care whether they will own the vehicle at the end of the day. What the drivers are interested in, is to chop you dry starting from day one Alexious: 1 Like |

Chekitaut: What is the guarantee that you'll remit daily? And, does this everyday mean it is guaranteed that the truck will work daily? Secondly, what is the guarantee that you'll maintain the truck properly since you're handling maintenance? Can you explain the last statement? It's not clear to me. |
Re: How To Start A Transportation Business In Nigeria by Chekitaut: 8:50am On Sep 27, 2023 |
mexxy1:in as much your truck is tracked, you monitor movement from your comfort zone, It works you get paid. Repairs is not our responsibility, monthly service is our duty. Brand new truck has no reason to be idle because there is steady delivery for it. Only working days get paid for. Our catchment area are Ogun & Lagos. |
