Is that part of the curriculum with which he taught them?

Did he give them handout or assignment that covers this?

I am sure the lecturer wants to pull a stunt, the VC should invite him to his office and ask him same question and then let him know his appointment is at stake if he misses anyone

Even the lecturer doesn't know the answer except with the aid of google

Trouble2018:
1. The question seem more of a test of Proficiency in English.

2. They 2019 elections has not been conducted, they are still contesting and not 'contested' as stated by the examiner.

3. The Lecturer might be one of the reasons many have given up on the Nigerian education system. If a Lecturer with a Ph.D can not use tenses properly, what will be the faith of the students?
Faith or fate? angry

Exactly, lecturers can not set question outside what they have taught... Should he then the lecturer have some question to answer

The answers are simple.

Q1. The presidential candidates are not 71 as some parties don't have presidential candidate.

Q2. The question says "CONTESTED".They have not contested as elections have not taken place.

Q3. Again, they have not contested

grin grin
. woooow, I really like your reasoning ,

if i am d one that set d question expecting d students to list d names and candidates of d parties, just seeing ur answer I will give u 100℅ mark any other answer apart from this wrong

but we don't know d lecturer might be testing d students reasoning may he is expecting this kind of answer

kudos to you bros

What about asking;
Discuss several measure to be taken in achieving free, fair and credible election in Africa.

What are the best political system of government Nigeria can adopt to help the suffering masses ?

How can Nigeria be restructured?

As a future political scientist, if you have opportunity to lead Nigeria, what can you do to make sure there is peaceful coexistence among different tribes in the country?

but the lecturer was busy asking irrelevant questions.

Nigeria really need God's intervention.

That is why Univeristy education should not be a 'come one, come all business'. Quantity over quality has destroyed any sense of purpose these institutions should have. Even at a higher level, 4th year, one can see a 'one liner' examination query typical, not dissimilar to what kindergarten kids will be subjected to.

I keep on saying it. The total dissonance between the Nigeria academia and Nigeria is just troubling to say the least. I have always known that the purpose of Universities and other countepart academic institutions was amongst other things, to profer solutions to the challenges of society. You see this typically in the developed world, from coursework to research thesis, subjects of interest have always centered around the big questions nations and her peoples faced at any point in time with a view to solving them.

Why is the Nigeria academia so prone to mediocrity. What value will enumerating all 71 political parties and their leadership add to anyone. Can't a more noteworthy question be: 'What the effects are of such number of parties on the political development of the country', 'Why the escalating number of parties after 20 years of unbroken political practice..,'

Our Universities have to step up and reform. They are not helping Nigeria. Instead of being centres of solutions, year after year all they are known for is problems, problems, problems. Instead if giving to society all they do is demand, demand, demand. It doesn't speak well of an institution, a community of folks who are intellectually proficient because one thing proficiency makes possible is independence, advancement and excellence.

The best economic brains are there yet they cannot raise a single blueprint to fund themselves adequately. They have the best psychologists and criminal scientists yet are overrun by cults and crime. They have the best engineers yet all they tell you is how much diesel they buy that they cannot afford. For goodness sake if they cannot help themselves, how do they help society. If Professors are crying on account of hunger what do they expect the ignorant peasant village folks to do.

And this is where it starts, mediocrity on the sheets.... disgusting.

Well, even if the election had taken place last week, it still wouldn't have changed the fact that some of the 71 political parties don't have presidential candidate.

True though

The students of the University of Ilorin were asked to mention the 71 presidential candidates, political parties & the party chairmen in 2019 Nigeria's general election.

The reason for poor academic performance. Lecturers with shallow brain setting shallow questions. No room for articulation and curiosity. Poor one!

You're wrong! There about 91 political parties and 73 of these political parties have Presidential aspirants.

Seriously I don't think there is anything wrong with the questions cos I sense he must have informed them about it.
Moreover, this question is not off-course. It is still within the course frame.
Atiku, buhari, sowore, moghalu, durotoye, buhari, Hashim, okotie, atuejide, ezekwesili
If I can give 10names then a student of 'electoral..' Class should be able to do better.
