People celebrate whenever a pipeline goes off without knowing who the real actors are and what is actually going on. These boys from Soboma George to Occassion Boy, to Ateke Tom, Baba Dicki etc all of these boys eventually became commanders in MEND. If you knew these boys and their past then you will neither choose sides with MEND nor Government but rather regret a failed Nigeria.

Who was Soboma George. Thankfully the last time I saw him from close range was in the 90s when he single-handedly ended a football match in Borikiri area of PH in a match between Borikiri Boys and what we call Abuja Estate Boys (This is an area in Creek Road). This was a match that had folks like Emmanuel Ebiede, Maxwell kalu, Blessing kaku, etc on parade. How times have changed because I doubt any of our pro-players can actually risk their lives identifying with street football at this time.

But the essence of my story is that Soboma George was a man who revelled in intimadating others. These group of boys started as pick pockets, then graduated to what we called panickers, they were thugs who graduated into cultism and formed ICElanders which at the time was a street version of Uniport/RSUST's Vickings confraternity. When Democracy came Odili and co bought the first real ammunitions for these boys to rig elections with. They now kept their guns and in other to keep the money flowing, and possibly engage in sometimes the noble agenda to increase oil derivation for ND States as well as the need for heighten the selfish agitation for Odili's South-South Presidency. THE CONCEPT OF MILITANCY EMERGED.

For folks like me who knew these boys as petty thieves and pick pockets of yesteryears. As much as I share the Niger-delta sentiments, seeing most of the commanders of MEND as freedom fighters was too difficult to swallow.

But at the end of the day. If I want to be honest I will also admit that these boys where never given a chance nor a choice. They had very difficult up-bringing. There was no guaranteed level of education while they were growing up. All of these falls down to our broken society and successive failed leadership both in federal Government or in State Government. So long as we continue to have leaders who just go to Abuja to squat and waste everybody's times, more Soboma George will be created. So long as we continue to have cowards and cluless/confused folks as President who pass off their leadership deficiencies as quietness, more Soboma George's will be created.
So long as we continue to have leaders who abdicate their responsibility to initiate social re-engineering in our country under the guise of respecting existing flawed laws without even making any efforts to challenge and change them through NASS, we will continue to manufacture more Soboma George's

It has been 50years since independence, let us reject Presidents who are either not ready to lead or simply are clueless. A diffent future is possible if we stand up.

Boy! u beat me on this!. . .similar to a grand puppeteer scheming the puppets. Maybe i should open up on this better

Amaechi (a young viking) was the PA  to Odili (grand Norseman) while his boss (odili) was the MD of Pamo clinic in the late 90's.

Later, Odili became the governor of Rivers State, it was only right to introduce his 'begotten son' to the system, hence Amaechi became the speaker- R/S house of assembly. Rivers state from its creation until 1999 has never recorded the amount of massacre perpetrated by these two folks and their catel. Blood was trickled like pure water on the streets of Port Harcourt for what was remarked '8years' of darkness in the city.

Inspite of all these atrocities, no one could raise a damn hand for odili's impeachement, afterall his son was at the hem of affairs in the house. Amaechi knew, and was an accomplice in the game. He knew his father's boys, he knew their strengths and red-potentials. In short, they were disciples and Amaechi was to succeed the throne of his father as to continue the dynasty.

Prior to the 2007 polls, the fall-out chapter began, as to what our tabloids revealed was the reason for the fallout - "OBJ told odili to drop Amaechi and pick a neutral candidate or better Austin Okpara (Ikwerre descent) because he hated the disrespectful nature of Chibuike Amaechi" according to the tabloids.

As fate will have it, Amaechi later claimed the throne disregarding the aggreement btw Odili and the Abuja baronies, now he is the enemy to his former boss, OBJ and awhole lot of the "evil empire". 2011 polls is fast approaching and Amaechi knows that his erstwhile boss will do everything within his power to dethrone the disloyal son, thus it is only petinent to start bringing down all dangerous partners-in crime. Its the game! . . .and they'll tell you. . .we run this town.

It will not take an infant to decipher who killed soboma. . .Amaechi did of course! It doesnt take a thing to execute the crime and get a junkie from the waterfront with baritone voice to vomit those stuffs up here. . . afterall Amaechi will surely know all the killings mentioned. . .so what makes us think that guy was really the true killer.

Besides, the tabloids reveal the guys came dressed on french suits in a black colored 2010 model Toyota corolla. . .which is opposite of what the deceased boys wear. . .at least i know very well. neither soboma nor his bois have ever been spotted on even a simple corporate dressing. Soboma's building (popularly known as Lion house) is 3 houses away from the Police station, a street away from mine and about a street away from the murdered spot. . . everyone who knows Pere will agree with me that that guy is fat, hefty and always go on jean shorts. . .meaning the killers were professionals.something tells me they were top viking executioners sent by the top political tiers.

My brother, you hit the nail on the head. Forget all the amnesty razzmatazz. Some of us wey don dey PH before when all these things dey unfold know wetin dey. Many of the guys I grew up with are all gangsters and panickers in one way or the other.

now i know say some people dey this forum wey know whatz up.
unfortunately, i no want add any info for obvious reasons.
I wish an intelligent man like Ibime will read this entire thread and retrace his step in supporting this criminality called militancy.
From A to Z all militants are crooks and are as much enemies of the ND as the federal Government.
this Amnesty programe is constitutionalized armed robbery.
Even the press are party to this grand charade.
When the true saviours of the ND and the enitire Nigerian masses show up,even the blind will see them.
All these barbarians gouging at the feeding trough will be decapitated for good very soon.
Every one on the scene at present only have one interest at heart - THEMSELVES.

for the avoidance of doubt, my categorization does not exclude MEND,they maybe more refined that the Ateke Toms of this world but their primary purpose are one and the same.
Also, my categorization of the barbarians at the feeding trough does not exclude your oga, who is the flavour of the moment.

you don't need to be a PH person to realise that all these militant c r a p is broad day robbery.
all you need is to have an open mind about most of the sensational rubbish printed in the media and to read between the lines when this criminals called militants speak.
No discernible ideology.only violence and sharing of loot.
Every known militant has become a millionaire over night.
I challenge anyone who supports this criminality masquerading as militancy to explain that sheer coincidence to Nigerians.
What wealth did they all inherit from their fathers?
Which lottery did all of them without exception win?
What innovative biz idea did they think up and execute while fighting in the swamp forests?

Imagine 'respectable' political leaders calling for a probe into the killing?
How many probes were set up for the killing of several innocent persons who have been victims of this criminality in the ND called ND militancy?
This is just the beginning.

The Vicko and Pyrate boys who blossomed in late 80's and 90's now have stranglehold on Rivers and Bayelsa Government.

Soboma George is not your typical university confra. He barely finished school at Stella Maris back then. Most of these new age cultists in Borokiri can all be traced to three secondary schools, namely, Comprehensive, Stella Maris and Baptist.

They cut their teeth in the intra-school wars of the early to mid-90's. Who remembers King of Baptist?

This is the legacy of the failed education system of the 1980's and 1990's. However, these boys would have remained common touts had Odili not armed them for 2003 election.

Now we hear of political assassinations everyday. Who remembers the shock and horror when Chief Obi Wali was assassinated in the 90's. Even back then, they used machete to kill him. Now they fire submachine guns anyhow and political assassination is no longer news.

Oputa Panel: Babangida, Odili Named in Murder Case

From Ahamefula Ogbu and Chuks Akunna in Port Harcourt

Former Military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida, former Governor of Rivers State, Chief Rufus Ada George, present Governor of River State Chief Peter Odili among others, were yesterday in Port Harcourt, River State accused of complicity in the alleged murder of Senator Obi Wali.

Others fingered in the petition read before the Justice Chukwudifu Oputa Commission Investigating human rights abuses where allegations of cover up was levelled by the Ikwere Community and Dr. Wali's son, Ihumuo, including his wife Nnenna, are Alhaji Zakari Biu and owner of OCC construction Limited, Chief Omunnakwe Nsirim.

The petitioners therefore prayed the commission that General Babangida, alleged to have used state apparatus to eliminate Wali because of his political leanings, be prosecuted for "the wilful murder of late Chief Obi Wali for advocating confederation."

They further asked that Ada George, Odili and Adokie Amasiemeka, then Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) of the state be charged with complicity in the murder. Also recommended for the same fate was Nnenna and Alhaji Biu.

The petitioners equally demanded a N500million compensation to be paid the late Senator's aged mother for the trauma the assassination put her. This is in addition to arrest, investigation and prosecution of Dede Wogwu, Chijioke Amadi and Madam Cecillia Amadi whom they alleged were hastily let off the hook on the recommendation of the DPP.

In an emotionally laden voice, Ihunnwon narrated how her step mother, Nnenna, had confessed before the traditional Ruler of Ikwerre land, His Royal Highness, Eze Walli how she was promised N8million out of which N5million had been paid to her for facilitating the killing.

Ihunwon went further to tell the crowded session that she confessed that the money was provided by the state governor who had through Nsirim, pledged a "water tight" protection by the state and appropriate cover up which he alleged, was carried out by suppressing the result of inquiry into the incident, they would however want the report now made public.

He said that his father was killed in his bedroom on April 26, 1993 shortly after he came back from a tour of the northern part of the country where he allegedly met with Sultan Dasuki.

According to him, the fear by the Babangida's regime that he was going to declare a republic from among the minority area created a fear in the leadership of the country which went for his jugular by sending people who matcheted and decapitated him.

To prove that government had a hand in the alleged gruesome murder, he said the security system in a premeditated manner, put policemen a day in advance round Ikwere land. The men allegedly murdered at least five people when the news broke out that Dr. Walli had been butchered in his bedroom by unknown men.

Furthermore, Ilunnwon said that Alhaji Biu came to them under the guise that he was sent by higher authorities to take over the investigation, and took over every evidence on the matter and went back to Lagos after which nothing was heard of the case anymore.

Asked to substantiate his claim of having an overwhelming evidence that Nnenna killed his father, Ihunnwon said she displayed no emotion at the death, barred relations from entering the compound, removed her things in advance while she had the only key to the room. She was alleged to have blocked an access to top floor of the building so that the only access was through the front of her kitchen at the rear.

On cross-examination by counsel to the police, Mr. Nuhu Bibadu, he denied that he had soured relationship with Nnenna as well as the notion that his father's death must have been engineered.

Counsel to the commission, Mr. R. Nchenge who led Mrs. Chinwe Uwandu and Emmanuel Akaka asked him the number of children and wives his father had to which Ilunnwon said he had 12 children and two wives living with him, none of which was his mother.

Attorney General of Rivers state, Mrs Cookey Gam saw the death of Dr. Wali as a loss to Rivers state as well as to the entire nation. He pledged to do everything to unravel the killers. She asked Wali's son the specific names mentioned in the alleged confession recorded in a tape on those who had a hand in the killing.

He however said he did not have the tape. He further gave her mother's name as Salome who had been estranged and no longer staying in the father's home.

Another witness, Mr. William Uwandi corroborated the evidence of Ilunwo, adding that Nnenna was not suspected of complicity in the murder until she was unable to account for her where-about when the killing took place. Instead, she was alleged to have given conflicting account before she voluntarily admitted knowledge of the plans to kill her husband.

Again, Uwondi said that Dr. Wali's killers must have gained entrance into the room prior to matcheting him as four out of the six wardrobes attached to the wall were open, suggesting that they had been there and attacked him from behind while he was undressing."

So sympathetic. It almost dawned on me to believe on my first visit to Port Harcourt that every Rivers State home has not less than two cult members (sometimes parents inclusive). What a way of life! Children threatening parents and grandparents with guns and matchets,

May God save Niger Delta. Imagine people coming on the web to show their loyalty to their cult groups, I bah for dem ooooooo!
Re: I Killed Soboma George With The Rifles He Gave Us: by phantom(m): 7:18am On Sep 02, 2010
^not justifying cultism but sensible people know where cultism ends and life begins, but many boys in PH took this thing to a whole new level, but is also pertinent to note, like ibime said, that riversstate is one if not the only state where cultism had a strong foundation even before this do or die politics,

Re: I Killed Soboma George With The Rifles He Gave Us: by Nelton(m): 7:56am On Sep 02, 2010
We cannot take away the fact that the govt was involved in the death of soboma. When I saw it on the papers i knew immediately that the govt had to have a hand in it. Let us start from the confession of fiorfore, he said soboma was killed because he threathened him after he refused to kill the dep guv of bayelsa state. Have we asked ourselves who sent soboma to kill the dep guvnor? Now taking a cue from the postings on this thread by riverians we know that election period is here again and of course we know the problem between odili and amaechi. A gentleman had highlighted how these men started the cult war in rivers state and how they fell out, and right now we might be getting a repeat of what happened in 2003. The guns have started circulating again. (Remember that guy said he was given 3 rifles) After the 2011 elections the boys will become jobless again and they might have to come up with another form of agitation maybe another mend and then amnesty follows before the next election. You can imagine the govt paying militants N65,000 every month and lodging them in hotels around ND all in the name of training and trying to engage the boys. So if the boys nor carry gun b4 govt for nor know say dem need to create jobs for this boys and engage them meanifully. Our problem is not the boys o,our problem is the govt. That the boys are robbing killing and maiming is a product of the failed state of the nation and our anger should be directed at the govt. And not until we begin to engage these corrupt politicians who line their pockets with our money and who must engage in do or die politics for them to continue to to perpetrate thier evil acts we shall continue to see more of these killlings and general state of insecurity. May God help us !
