Larryfest: The problem with the Max 8 is a software glitch which causes the plane to crash. Boeing was supposed to send an update to correct after the first crash. However e, I still think its all a game to manipulate the stock market. |

tiredoflife:And land in the ocean? Its like having a lifebouy in a sinking ship although ur chances of survival on a ship are way better. They need an ark with parachutes or some kind of raft that can take 50 people. I really dont know why they have never thought of this. Plane crash everybody die. Only a miracle saved crash survivers. Imagine falling off a 2 storey building now imagine falling at 600kmh. 1 Like |

phunkypalace:I know you're talking from a professional perspective but I believe if we consider it serious, a plane shd be designed to cater weights of all items needed to make flight safer! It's a simple maths. Or worst, they reduce passengers on each trip and replace their weights with parachutes or appurtenances that would make flight safer! 2 Likes |

This long death of a plane ought to have more than 2 engines because the largest plane antonov 225 has 6 engines |

Tundexxy: Bro how I wish you are into Aviation. Yes a cargo plane can weigh more than passenger aircraft but a cargo plane can never and I repeat can never be overweight and the pilot says he can take it off..even the flight dispatcher would never assign that aircraft to leave because it will end up crashing at the other end of the runway. An aircraft is not just built to fly alone, there are so many considerations that has been put into place that will determine if the aircraft is to takeoff or not. I will try and explain in details. There are three major things to consider when an aircraft is preparing for a trip and those things are carefully planned in order to avoid a mishap while on the journey. You have the OEW: Operating Empty Weight. This is the weight of the aircraft before Fuel, Passengers and Cargo is loaded into the aircraft. That is the weight of the aircraft itself before anything is loaded into it. You have the MTOW: This is the Maximum Take off Weight, it consists of the OEW, the payload which includes Fuel, Cargo and Passengers...there is a limit for each aircraft and if the total payload surpases that, then that aircraft is going no where. This is because before the aircraft begins it's takeoff roll, so many things has been pre-configured into the FMC which is called Flight Management Computer..can be called FMS in some aircraft. The FMC would give you a Flap configuration between 5 and 15 and takeoff speeds based on your current weight, the weather and length of the runway. We have the V1 which is the minimum takeoff speed, once the aircraft reaches this speed, you are committed to flying and even if any emergency comes into play after this speed such as engine fire, engine failure or any other form of emergency, you can't abort the takeoff, you'll have to get into the air and make a return later. We have the VR which is called the rotating speed, when you reach this speed, the pilots pull up the yoke and that puts the plane's nose up and into the air. We have the V2 which is the dedicated climbing speed. All these things are put into considerations before the aircraft takes off so you think off adding parachutes to the aircraft with all these things inside the aircraft already, then I don't think anyone would be able to fly having it at the back of our mind that the fuel it uses depends on the journey. Lastly comes in the MLW...The Minimum Landing weight and the Maximum Landing weight. This weight are also put into consideration before the plane can land, if the aircraft is overweight for landing then the pilot has to shed out some fuel because if he tries and land that aircraft while the aircraft has surpassed the maximum landing weight, then it is a calamity waiting to happen. So consider parachutes in a plane like the A380 that can take more than 400 passengers, add the weight of the passengers to the OEW, plus the fuel and the cargo..now tell me if it's possible for that aircraft to get into the air let alone landing. So many people just think the aircraft gets into the air like than and just land like that, NO...that is why I laugh at that guy who said "What is this one saying". He has no idea, and he's just supposed to ask for a detailed explanation than make fun of himself. I hope you understand this Chief. If you want any further explanations, let me know. Thanks. 1 Like |

Re: Boeing 777X: Boeing Unveils World's Longest Passenger Plane(Pics) by phunkypalace(m): 2:10pm On Mar 17, 2019 |
Mac2016: Well you are right to an extent. But let me tell you that there is a standard to follow when building an aircraft. Mathematics can be put into play but the ultimate Physics. Each aircraft designed has to beat the law of gravity when flying. So parachutes can't just be chipped in into passenger aircrafts. You'll observe only military aircraft have that and there is a reason for that, they are not operated for commercial purpose. If parachutes are to be placed inside the aircrafts, then flying would be very very expensive. |
Re: Boeing 777X: Boeing Unveils World's Longest Passenger Plane(Pics) by phunkypalace(m): 2:17pm On Mar 17, 2019 |
ckc:. The engines would only suck things that are right in front of the engines and will throw away things that are right behind it. Can I ask a question, have you ever boarded an aircraft or been to the airport?...If you have you'll observe while the aircraft is taxing, nobody stays around even a follow me vehicles has a limited distance to stay. The engines are powerful especially when put into maximum thrust. Don't joke with the engines. |

gonkin: Lol...even parachutes cannot be used above 10,000ft. So if an aircraft is maneuvering over in the air at any altitude above 10,000ft...you can't even use the parachute because it is instant death on it's own LOl. |

phunkypalace: Flight should not be expensive with parachute. A parachute cost about $8,000 (#2.9m). So if a plane can cost an average of 60 billion Naira, what does it take to incorporate 400 parachute (costing just 1.2 billion Naira) in a new plane? Note that the d same parachute will b in d plane in every flight. A plane can spend 6yrs without even crashing, so parachute in a plane costs nothing. 1 Like 1 Share |

Siralgebra04: If you say so, so be it. Who am I to argue with you if you are not into aviation. Because if you are, you won't even say this. Please check my other comment as to why it is not possible yet. The major reason why I said flying would be expensive is because if parachutes are to be embedded in an aircraft, the weight has to be considered then the number of passengers an aircraft can carry at once has to be reduced because of the weight. Say if a flight ticket cost approximately 190k from Lagos To Dubai with an Aicraft that has a capacity of over 400 passengers, then how much would the ticket be if the airline has to fly an aircraft with just 100 passengers (because each passenger must have a reserved parachute and the weight has to be balanced) from Lagos to Dubai? Won't the airlines make profits? How much do you think Aviation fuel cost? How much do you think workers in an Airline are being paid? How much do you think airlines pay to make sure a single aircraft is air worthy? How much do you think they pay airports when the aircrafts are on ground? How much do you think airlines pay for the airspace they pass through during flights? If you can answer all these questions, I'm ready to debate with you. Thanks. |
Re: Boeing 777X: Boeing Unveils World's Longest Passenger Plane(Pics) by uzoma213(m): 3:38pm On Mar 17, 2019 |
planetx:you tried but the engines first of all produces thrust that makes the plane taxi on the runway leading to take off...while in the air, the engines is responsible for forward movement while the wings keeps the plane in the air...NOTE: many other things helps to achieve lift during g takeoff, the engines is for forward movement |
