Historically, Buhari was never a popular aspirant until Bola Ahmed cleaned him up, funded is campaign and then used the media to re-brand his image.

After the election, a lot of people became wiser. Buhari's incompetence became apparent and he lost many followers.

In the South South and South East, Buhari's tactless approach to the issues of Nige-delta development, ethnic marginalization and the agitation for Biafra did him more harm than good.

In the South west, Buhari's open declaration that he does not support restructuring also decimated his popularity.

In the North central, Buhari's inability to curb the herdsmen/farmers clash also made him to loose followers.
