seyewest: I never mentioned anywhere that everyone will leave Nigeria as we all know that can never happen. However, people will forever have different reasons why they choose to either stay or leave from a particular Country. So yes, Nigeria is not meant for every Nigerian Citizen to enjoy living in just as any Country abroad is not meant for every Nigerian. |

Lee310: lol!...Keep waiting till forever with that wishful thinking. What about the millions of Nigerians still leaving in Nigeria as we speak...why can't they make Nigeria to be the Giant of Africa again but have to wait for those living abroad to come back and do what |

seyewest: I really don't understand what the need for the insults does...may be to make people feel guilty? I don't understand. Even some people also throw insults on Nigerians who choose to live abroad and want nothing to do with Nigeria. So you see it goes both ways. |

Hello fellow Nairalanders, I have a quick question and I'm hoping y'all can help. Not sure if there is a thread for mothers who are traveling on B1/B2 to help their children in the U.S take care of their grandkids. So I'm just going to post here since I didn't find the thread. So I've invited my mum over, she was denied the first time she went. Told the VO she was staying for 4months (PS: She's 50 YO, has her own business and still married with another child in the University in Nigeria, she has never traveled out of Nigeria before as well) but still wasn't issued the Visa. According to what we filled in the DS160 I'm the one sponsoring the trip and I gave her my personal statement to take with her but the VO didn't even ask to see it nor did she collect it when she offered to show her. Now my question is, she's going back in a few weeks and I need to know if I can just go ahead to reduce the length of stay to 4weeks and if that won't pose any issues. Thanks. |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by anfanio: 6:47pm On Jan 15, 2020 |
bamboobie: Did she give you an idea of why she was denied? And are you a citizen or GC holder? |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by bamboobie: 7:06pm On Jan 15, 2020 |
anfanio: I'm currently on H1B, my GC is currently in the works. According to her, the moment she mentioned 4months the VO's countenance changed. She was issued the generic paper that reads her intention to be in the U.S is not consistent with the Visa she applied for. (No home ties I suppose). |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Beautyaddy: 7:19pm On Jan 15, 2020 |
bamboobie: Hmmm...I think two months might seems more reasonable and believable to the VO than her reducing it drastically to just four weeks. |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Nobody: 7:23pm On Jan 15, 2020 |
bamboobie:4 months stay means your mother will work in US, taking care of her grand kids it's considered also working, having family in US is well known your mother can overstay and later fix her green card when you become a citizen or you are a citizen already. Apply for your mother legal residence as your family member and she can go. |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by anfanio: 7:23pm On Jan 15, 2020 |
bamboobie: "Au pair" under J1 exchange but that's a long shot. Let her reapply and use the words "visit and see" not "take care". Technicalities in words. You can also reduce length of stay. |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by bamboobie: 7:29pm On Jan 15, 2020 |
anfanio: Oh no she told the VO she was going to visit her daughter and her grand child. Also would you think 4 weeks is ideal so that when she's asked why she changed from 4 months to 4 weeks she can then say it was an error with the first application and she didn't realize until it was too late(meaning she had to stick to the initial info she had filled)? |

seyewest: The current fool we have in Aso Rock has damaged the country to a point of almost no repair This punk ass goat is racking up debt for generations unborn to pay, while the infrastructural gap keep widening Two problems in one that future Nigerians will have to deal with That's one His ethnocentric stance, his hypocrisy, diadai for the rule of law, and killing federal character, and giving cover to foreign fulani terrorists to terrorise the country The list of his fvck up is very very long, and it will take time to repair Decades may be Other presidents were not the best But this fool is flat out TERRIBLE |

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Nobody: 9:20pm On Jan 15, 2020 |
Beautyaddy:Totally true. As for immigration services taking care of kids by a NO authorized to work alien even for free, it's this alien takes the job of an American or a legal resident because in case if there is no grand ma, the parents pay the day care or a nanny. It generates the internal revenue. However, if the grand ma is a legal resident, she can take care of her grand kids for free or being paid. If your relatives are visiting the U.S. to take care of you and the baby, you would not be hiring the services of the daycare provider. Therefore, you are considered depriving the U.S. workers of their work. Working on a tourist visa is not allowed as your relatives are babysitting which is considered work. Babysitting is considered a job and the baby sitter is considered to be working, whether the person is getting paid for it or not. In other words, the grandmother is working for free which is not allowed. If your relatives are helping you to take care of the housework, you are depriving the U.S. workers of their cleaning job. If the intention of the relatives is to indeed help with babysitting and the housework, many of them would end up extending their stay and would want to come frequently and stay excessively, all of those factors are against the actual intentions of the visitors visa and the consular officers already know this. That is why it is a bad idea to mention pregnancy as the reason to visit the U.S. The consular officer is looking for improving the U.S. economy and people spending money on tourism and shopping by the visitors, rather than loss to the economy in terms of babysitting and maid work and are also concerned about unauthorized work. 2 Likes |

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by bamboobie: 9:29pm On Jan 15, 2020 |
SmartKitty: I absolutely agree with you! So the last time she appeared, she mentioned she was going to visit her daughter and grand child (told her to say that with the hope that it will increase her chances of getting the Visa), so now should she just say she's going to visit her daughter or stick with the whole daughter and grand child story? 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Nobody: 9:35pm On Jan 15, 2020 |
bamboobie:It's already in her record. I doubt she will get any visa very soon. All COs will think or maybe even tell her, wait until your daughter becomes a citizen and petition you for residence, in the mean time your daughter with her kids can visit you in Nigeria. Sorry, it's the way it works for any country, not only Nigeria. |
