Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Kalkaothar: 12:44pm On Jul 02
@Seyewest, what makes me think they will give me is the ability to convince the consular officer this time, being able to demonstrate my eligibility better than last and above all, God's favour. Here is my previous transcript that led to a denial;
After passing passport and i-20 upon request;
VO: Why finance
Me: My goal is to work in the Financial services industry, specifically corporate finance. I did Finance as my undergraduate major, so a graduate degree in finance will equip me with the required mathematical and analytical skills to excel in the chosen career field. It will also improve on the theories I have learnt at my undergraduate level while providing me with practical applications of the said theories.
VO: Who is sponsoring?
Me: I got a 30% Dean's scholarship in form of a tuition waiver and my uncle will be handling the rest
VO: what does he do?
Me: He is into clearing and forwarding business. Also does Agriculture. *I paused....then continued;
I have his bank statements and affidavit..
VO: I was(or wasn't, I didn't hear him clearly) going to ask for that
Me: searching for the document
VO: you do not qualify
Me: I left
N.B: my voice shaked a little at the start of the answer to my first question but it wasn't obvious at all

Is it a crime if you drop your quota to get it to the top page
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by seyewest(m): 2:11pm On Jul 02
I think you should have a specific place you will like to work with when you finish your study in U.S and also have all document on hand.
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Kalkaothar: 4:02pm On Jul 02
Very well! Thank you! I will get those documents ready towards the next interview which is dependent on getting those questions i have answered.
Pleeeease, who has answers to my questions?
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Bracha: 4:38pm On Jul 02
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by cutelass: 4:45pm On Jul 02
They should have even made you wait and pick it up...I mean how many visas are still being issued? Work has greatly reduced in that unit!
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Nersh: 4:56pm On Jul 02
Goodluck with your reapplication.
I think you need to have crisp and concise answers to the following questions;
Why this school?
What will you do after the degree?
These are some of the questions asked of my sister who just got her f1 visa.
Also, maybe your parents can be sponsor and not an uncle ( parents are a closer relationship).
Research on why you’re interested in finance, maybe using corporate finance as a development tool for your country’s economy, equippping yourself with cognitive skills and getting competitive advantage over others in the same field.
Research the course you want to study and how it will help you develop these skills. Also research the school, what makes them stand out? Etc.
Hopefully this will all work in your favour
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by awumen: 7:24pm On Jul 02
Nersh:@kalkaothar,i completely agree with the inputs seyewest and nersh. Take out time to work on the points raised however making your parents your sponsor show more ties back home compare to an uncle who might ditch these responsibility in the future and who obviously has his own too to cater for. All the same, best of luck.

In the spirit of giving back..
Me: Good morning
VO: Good Morning. I like your hair.
Me: Thank you
VO: How many children do you have?
VO: Was any born in the US?
VO: Your Bank Statements
Me: I didn’t bring along any for a Visit Visa. But I have all my receipts here. Passed to her
VO: How much did you spend for the delivery?
Me: I answered
VO: Hmm ok. How much was the hospital specifically?
Me: I answered
Vo: (looking through papers)but I see so so here
Me: If you look at it properly you would see I paid that amount before I left Nigeria and paid more when I got to the US
VO: That’s a lot
Me: it is what it is
VO: how much did you pay for the previous kid?
Me: about $4K lesser. I used same doctor and hospital. I have the receipts here (I passed it)
VO: No need. Why did you go back to same hospital?
Me: I enjoyed the services I got. So didn’t make sense to change for the unknown
VO: What do you do?
(At this time I was tired as I walked the gate route 2ce and she had put my passport in the bin they put it anyways)
Me: Told her
VO: How much do you make?
Me: My basic is .....
VO: Are you traveling with your family?
VO: Does your husband have a US visa?
VO: Is he applying for one?
Me: No he doesn’t need to
VO: You are not traveling with your kids?
Me: Have not had a “me time” since I started birthing
VO: laughs. U need it
VO: What does your husband do?
Me: Told her
VO: Will you be using this visa for birthing in the future?
Me: NO!! I am done
VO: laughs again. Why? Not even one more?
Me: I am done by God’s grace.
VO: Ok but it’s not a problem if you want to use it. Just avoid big discounts and do like you did with the others
Me: I just didn’t answer.. (abeg no koba mi. Na money to take care of these ones we are hustling for)
VO: I see you took a Nanny on your last trip
VO: How much did you pay her
Me: I told her. I have all the transfer slips and her statement of account
VO: That’s ok. Did your child go to school in the US
(I wrote she will attend school in the nanny contract form)
VO: A public school?
Me: No a private school
Me: Why what?
VO: Why private school and not public school?
Me: Oh! I know Public schools are funded by the govt and taxpayers. I am not a taxpayer and I want no complications so..
VO: How much did you pay at the school?
Me: so n so. I have the receipts here
(She typed n typed)
VO: (Smiles)Your visa has been approved but
VO: Why are you going to ....
Me: I have been there but was unable to explore as I was pregnant
VO: Will you be getting a visa for your nanny this time?
Me: Yes but not now. When traveling with the whole family and it will be for a different Nanny.
Me: My other nanny passed her exams and would be going to college
VO: Good. Congrats

Me: Ok. Can I visit Las Vegas too, if I have the time?
VO: (laughs) me time? Yes u can

Honesty is the key. The These people (VOs) are not stupid. The sort of things you hear people say makes you wonder and will definitely get anyone’s back up: like you must think am a fool.
I also noticed the emphasis to everyone that got the visa, the need to use the visa firstly for what you stated. I heard a vo ask a woman how long she was travelling for, she said 4months. The vo said, but you wrote one month in your form...they talked n talked on it. Finally, I am approving your visa, but pls make sure you don’t stay longer than 4 months as I have written 4 months for you. You will be stamped for 6 months but don’t be tempted to stay over 4 months. It will (not can) affect your renewal....
Things have really changed. Wishing all genuine visa applicants the very best.

in just wishing the genuine ones to get the visa thsts all.
I have applied for visa a couple of times
I Know how stressful it is to put those documents together
thank God I have not been denied before, but I would have been distraught if I was denied visa when I'm a genuine applicant
I don't wish that for any genuine applicants

I mentioned we got our visa approved (family of 3)
we flew British Airways from England to Orlando ( long but nice flight, too many chops)
Landed in Orlando and was on the queue for the border checks for 2hrs 15mins (At this time I was almost giving up on visiting America again as i was with a toddler that is super tired from a delayed 9hrs 30mins flight.
Got to the border officer after the long wait, was asked how many days we will be spending and if we came with food items which we said no.
we got stamped in for 6months, we spent 10days in America and back to base now. I miss the space in America, Britain is so squashed
Did I mentioned Orlando was fun, Walt Disney world was it for my toddler but holy land was the icing on the cake for me.

Lol!...most people who live in the UK says that however, they still claim that they wouldn't trade living in the UK for the US.
