Our midfield wasn't too good to be honest. I had hoped Rosicky's presence would at least bring in some sanity but it now seems to me now that without Cesc and/or Nasri or maybe Wishere, we can't have some creativity in the midfield? Anyways, good enough, at least we have those three players to choose from.

Defensively, Kos again showed that physically he may not be up to it but in terms of intelligence, the guy has got it. He made some interceptions last night that top defenders will be proud of. As for Djorou, Il still give him benefit of doubt considering he is just back from a long lay off. He performed averagely well too.

Upfront, hmmm. Niklaaas is all I can say. He sure got class. Fingers crossed but at least for the first time in a long time, we can say we've got options to choose from. Chamakh does not need to play all the games now that Bendtner is back and RVP will be back soon.

I don't want to say too much about JET but I think even AW is scared of using the guy cos if that guy has 45 mins of top class football, Im not sure anyone in that team will bench him (now this is not overhype. The guy is good). Even in the five minutes he had yesterday, he would have scored a goal if only Theo was in the same frequency with him. Replace Theo with Cesc or Wilshere and he would have got a 1 - 2 pass back to give him an all clear on goal. And did anyone see when he tried to dribble the entire Newcastle defence and only lost to the last man?

AW, what you waiting for? Give him 45 mins, ok, 30 mins, let's see what he is made of!

who the hell is this guy that is almost always on the same frequency with me !!!

You can add Ramsey to that list when he is back from injury. Hope he comes back whole. Rozza has been disappointing when he's been needed, though you still see the flashes of brilliance.

A friend of mine didn't know JET until the pre-season games but after watching one of our pre-season matches where both JET and Chamakh played, he called and said if he didn't know Chamakh and he was asked as a stranger to pick out the much publicised multi million striker Arsenal had just signed, he said he would have pointed out JET rather than Chamakh on the strength of his performance for the day. Such is the quality of the boy.
I'm however willing to trust Arsene's judgement, there must be a reason he has chosen not to play him yet but atimes his action at certain times in games shows how much he rates certain players. 1-0 down at Chelsea with time running out, Arsene makes a change and who does he bring on?

The way Bendtner takes some goals with ease by simple shimmy, drop of the shoulders and curl into the far corner. . .one wonders whether Chamakh would ever be able to score such goals on the floor. Forget about bullying defenders, hold-up play and whatnot, Bendtner makes Chamakh look like a schoolboy when it comes to pure finishing.
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by chuckdee4(m): 2:01pm On Oct 28, 2010
I'll have 2 Chamakh's over 6 Adebayor's, plus i see he still hasn't doesn't understand the concept of offside

Well i guess he brings something different to the table, there will be games where Chamakh's bullying will be the better option, especially when the likes of Stoke come to town.

Ofcourse Il trust the gaffer's judgement too at least for now afterall, we've played over 10 games and failed to score in only one.
Its also a good thing to have Bendtner back. Tbh, while I rate Chamakh's overall contribution to the game, I still don't understand why he'l choose to pass 9 out of every 10 chances in the box 18. Maybe he needs to be reminded that he is a striker? I am almost certain he would have passed the ball if he had the chance Bendtner had against Newcastle. Im not trying to bring him down, only wondering how good he could get if he startes shooting?

As for JET, I can only hope he is not loaned out again unless its to a premierleague side where he guaranteed 1st team action like we did for Wilshere last season. But again, I think that guy is ready! Ive seen him play every position on the field except in goal. To me, he already feels like an 'agbaya' when playing with the reserves/youths. He is ahead of them.

Can someone tell me why he isn't in any of the National youth teams?
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by A40(m): 2:56pm On Oct 28, 2010
First things first like Saucekid 'I am so sorry for Almunia I can cry for him,I am so sorry for him!!' Szceseny was top-notch

Secondly who is dissing Djourou? I can't stand the nucca but I am cocksure Andy Carroll woulda scored yesterday if not for Djourou! He was excellent yesterday.

Rozzy was shyte yesterday! Osanobua! Denilson on braids lol!

Hehe Vela hmm I nor go talk but its obvious that he is a finisher and not much else! He isn't that quick and is definitely not a dribbler

Theo Danger!! Jor ooh! I no fit shout! If he stays injury-free he is scoring no less than 15 goals. He is doing it grande this season

Bendtner's goal was class he didn't play too well all game but its clear to see he has worked on his finishing

Wenger is starting to remind me of Kunta Kinte how after stubborn resistance to field strong lineups in the CC is finally yielding after 5 seasons

That is not in doubt. . . .Nicklas has this ice cool Northern European finishing composure due to his upbringing. What you learn in the ghettoes of France is more gra gra bullying and bashing your opponents.  grin

Djourou's problem is that he's a slow starter. . . .he seems to get bamboozled in the first half, then recovers composure in the second. The same thing happened against Citeh. Let's hope it's just remnants of being out for so long, not a case of slow brain syndrome. grin

I've personally given up on him. . . .We should just sell him when he still has some years on his contract. He doesn't seem to be suited to our current game play at all. Bendtner played on the left wing and right wing and still managed to score, so I don't buy the excuses that the formation doesn't suit him.

Frankly he should hang his head in shame that Chicharito is already banging in winning goals while he's still trying to find his feet.

He has this knack of outpacing the last defender and drawing a foul, so selfless, this's a strenght as well as a weakness. Would like to see him shoot more.

A lot of folks gave up on Fabianski, and with a few games under his belt, we all see how confident and good he is now. My point? Carlos Vela is a good striker who is still finding his feet. If Wenger have faith in him - Just like he did in Fabianski - then there must be something about him that we may not have seen. From what I can tell (my opinion) he is technically gifted, got pace and with a bit of practice he will get there.

Only the FA can say o, both he and Frimpong represented England last at U17 level, when coming through the academies he never settled in a position (I recall he has played CB, LB, LM and Playmaker in the academy) so was not known to be a specialist in any position and was often overlooked because Wilshere and Lansbury got most of the hype in the youth teams. The FA selection seems to follow a sort of quota from the teams, because Arsenal had so many good players some of the good players like Frimpong and JET got overlooked I presume.
Its just the same way Aneke is getting overlooked at present, prolly because McEachran is being fast tracked by Chelsea.
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by Ibime(m): 6:06pm On Oct 28, 2010
@ Debo,

Actually Chamhakh was known for his slick running, dribbling, feints and fluid style of play as a youngster.

Whoever taught him these bully boy target man play must have also beat the fluidity out of him, cos HE IS TOO RIGID!
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by ElRazur: 6:34pm On Oct 28, 2010
Ibime:

cos HE IS TOO RIGID!

Really? He scores in almost every away game lately, he dribbled/fake feinted a keeper, out run a few defenders and shows he is good with his head within the short time he arrived to join us and you think he is rigid?  He is rigid yet he could hold on to the most troublesome of players from the opponent, surely you require some fluidity to do all of these?

Also you think  with two goals in two games from Bendtner and now Bendtner is a better finisher than Chammy?

It is true, everyone around here is an arm chair expert. grin
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by Ibime(m): 6:50pm On Oct 28, 2010
Which keeper did he feint? Are you talking about the Birmingham game where he feinted himself and the ball luckily dropped to him?

I have never seen a pirhouette so poorly executed in my life.
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by ElRazur: 6:55pm On Oct 28, 2010
It is safe to assume that you do not rate him. I understand that, but to say he is rigid is probably pushing it. This was a guy who settled into the EPL upon arrival. Come on now, give him some credit.
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by edoyad(m): 6:58pm On Oct 28, 2010
Also you think  with two goals in two games  from Bendtner and now Bendtner is a better  finisher than Chammy?

lol true talk sha, Bendtner is now the don dada compared to Cham ? Just wait till january and you'll hear another tune.
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by Ibime(m): 7:03pm On Oct 28, 2010
Didn't say I don't rate Chamhakh. But I remember the Chamhakh that made his debut, dribbling at top speed, feinting and moving fluildy. Chamhakh was wanted by every top club back then. I'm just pointing out that by gaining hold up play, Chamhakh completely lost all fluidity. And how come he never looks like he could feint a player and ping one in the top corner?
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by ElRazur: 7:09pm On Oct 28, 2010
I hear you. I do however think he's got some of those fluidity going on in all honesty (but perhaps not to the level you were describing). He's hardly rested since his arrival.

If I am to pick between the "début" Chammy and the one of recent. I think I will go with the one that you described as gaining hold up play.

Personally, I think his recent approach works best for us. He contributes to areas where we may face difficulties at times - Midfield area.
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by olodo(m): 7:25pm On Oct 28, 2010
Please i dnt knw who started this chammy and Nik. Nik had a lot of games d moment adebayo left for citeh and he could not deliver. That was why so many of us demaded for a quality striker from Aw. Now just because nik scored 2 goals in two matches he his now better than chamakh. Apart from Nik goal yestday he was nowhere to be found. Please dont forget d two goals we are talkg about was not when we were under presure. Please let give chamark tumbs up. He is a good striker and way ahead of Nik .
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by duduspace(m): 7:36pm On Oct 28, 2010
I don't think Ibime is saying Nik is better than Bendtner, anyone who says that should prolly be taken out and shot. He's just delving into the final details in differences between both players.
