The 777 was introduced in 1995.

It's flight cycles, not age, that matters because more flight cycles mean more metal fatigue.

Each take off and associated landing equals 1 cycle.

777s average about 2,000 cycles per year. In the 19 years since AP's 777 was built it could've flown about 38,000 cycles. Now that's a bit close to the about 45,000 cycles (can't remember) design limits of the B777.

But if the plane hasn't been in much use, then being 19 years old isn't really a big deal


The best analogy is a car's odometer....a car from 2000 with only 15 miles, say, is safer than a car from 2018 with 300,000 miles.

Oga, Aviation business is not a show off matter, but safety first! It is better to buy a brand new Y2000 model of an aircraft than a 2019 model. Pedigree counts more than newness.

There are only two types of Aircraft - a Certified one and an non-certified one. There nothing like Old aircraft! Aircraft is not like vehicles in age issues. Tyres are replaced when worn, engines re-fitted when worn, instrumentation and software can also be upgraded and you have a 'newly certified aircraft.

It is only in Nigeria that people by latest cars that are unproven - some poeple have ordered for 2050 landcruiser! (LOL)

With all purchase rights exercised, the contract has a value of US$2.12 billion based on current list prices.The carrier also set a regional record in September 2018 when it ordered 10 brand new aircraft from Boeing, increasing its fleet size then to about 37 aircraft. With the new order, Air Peace’s fleet size has increased to 67 aircraft. Shortly before the firm order for 10 brand new aircraft from Boeing, Air Peace set a domestic record as the first Nigerian airline to acquire and register the Boeing 777 aircraft in the country.

Three of the four wide-body aircraft it acquired for its long-haul operations to Dubai, Sharjah, Johannesburg, London, Houston, Guangzhou and Mumbai have so far been delivered Speaking on the latest order in faraway Port Louis, Air Peace Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Allen Onyema said: “Embraer’s new E195-E2 presents us with a marvel of economic performance.
