My Benz Gear is giving me problem. I have changed the filter, change Oil but the issue still there. The problem is that sometimes it will be difficult to transmit from Gear 1 to 2 and sometimes from 2 to 3. I can reserve and can drive but sometimes the acceleration will be high changing from 1 to 2 or 2 to 3. Sometimes the car will run smoothly without any issue. Moreover whenever I shift the Gear to R, there will be a noise in under and sometimes there wont be any. I am confused on what to do, either to buy a toks gear or change the firbe as someone told me that it's a firbe issue. Please I need a gear specialist to talk to.

I noticed the car if I kick down suddenly the rpm just goes up the speed doesn't go up the transmission slips

But if I accelerate gradually
Or I use the cruise control speed selector the speed goes up
Thats my new observation

I have serviced the gears no effects

Wat are your suggestions

IT IS NOT 'FIBRE'

High shift points indicate inaccurate load sensing. The computer is thinking the engine is running faster than it is. You need to check for the noise on reverse engagement. Is it a bang, clunk, whine etc?

the speedometre flickers too when in motion, and it changes eratically when in motion, most especially when i hit 80km/hr and above, even when it's at a halt, with me stepping on the breaks, the speedometer flickers, and sometimes, it will want to change gears even in at standstill

You certainly have wrong feedback. Something is confusing the computer:

Throttle
MAF
ABS
MAP
VSS
ESS
Computer

I would start from the computer....

Mine when in motion ..rpm goes up ;like its firing itself ;speedometer remains at 40 then gear changes with strong sound;then car drags,..gear was changed 2 months ago..some times car goes off in motion..changed throttle sensor;fuel pump;plugs;clean nozzles..just tired

Where did You fix your transmission issue?

greenhulk:

Like I said, it depends on the level of damage. Sometimes the problem is just a simple valve or filter or ball check. I had a serious transmission issue that almost made me change my transmission last October but suprisingly it got fixed and till now still going strong, in fact better than when I bought the car. I have traveled from Lagos to Ekiti to and fro 2 times, many trips to ibadan and saganu and transmission is still going strong. I also introdoced someone with same car as mine, working well. And before mine a Lexus rx300 had an issue that had been termed condemned and since last August after fixing it's still working. So I think it all depends on the level of damaged. If a transmission is not burnt, it can be fixed.

i used to drive honda accord 05 i4 before i gave out the car to my cousin..some months after he started driving it..the gear started misbehaving..from flaring during shifting from gear 1 to 2...to hard shift inbetween shifts..last last... the gear started taking too much time to engage,...start car and it will take upto 10 mins to engage..sometimes..even way more...i told my cousin to buy new gear but he opted for fixing the gear...he paid 50k to one gear engineer like that..and supringly, the engineer did a very good jjob on the gear..now the gear is like brand new gear..no single codes...all the problems the gear had before just vanished...i even berated my cousin for paying so much to fix gear but the result was astonishing.... this all happened in ph..

Both are speed sensors. One is input, the other is output.

Gear gurus in the house, pls, after fixing d other issue on my EOD, i discovered d gear started having high shift points, tried setting it from the transmission range switch sensor, no change, it reaches 3k rpm to make d 1st change, 3.1 to make the second change, same as the 3rd gear,

how can i reset the auto gear shift points?

cause normally, it shouldn't go beyond 2.2k rpm before it will change from gear 1 to 2 and it is supposed to reduce in 3,4 & 5

i removed the gear transmission range sensor, cleaned and reset it to neutral, i then went ahead and reset d tps, the tps should give u a 5v on idle and 4.5v when accelerated completely, this is done by putting d ignition on, u don't need to start d car before setting it
