Like I said, it depends on the level of damage. Sometimes the problem is just a simple valve or filter or ball check. I had a serious transmission issue that almost made me change my transmission last October but suprisingly it got fixed and till now still going strong, in fact better than when I bought the car. I have traveled from Lagos to Ekiti to and fro 2 times, many trips to ibadan and saganu and transmission is still going strong. I also introdoced someone with same car as mine, working well. And before mine a Lexus rx300 had an issue that had been termed condemned and since last August after fixing it's still working. So I think it all depends on the level of damaged. If a transmission is not burnt, it can be fixed.
gpod evening.. my lecus rx 330 is having transmission issue. Pls can you help me with the number of the person who fixed yours. thanks and how much did you spend to fix it.. grateful

i used to drive honda accord 05 i4 before i gave out the car to my cousin..some months after he started driving it..the gear started misbehaving..from flaring during shifting from gear 1 to 2...to hard shift inbetween shifts..last last... the gear started taking too much time to engage,...start car and it will take upto 10 mins to engage..sometimes..even way more...i told my cousin to buy new gear but he opted for fixing the gear...he paid 50k to one gear engineer like that..and supringly, the engineer did a very good jjob on the gear..now the gear is like brand new gear..no single codes...all the problems the gear had before just vanished...i even berated my cousin for paying so much to fix gear but the result was astonishing.... this all happened in ph..

Bother please can you please give me the contact of this gear mechanic in ph. Abeg Manon the verge of buying a new gear 13pin and the price is not funny

Is it now settled that Gear issues in cars are such that eludes all mechanical solutions in Nigeria then warranting the outright purchase of another one for replacement. I have heard people say if the gear has any issue, just discard it and get a new one.
How true is this?

Any transmission shop worth its salt issues warranty. Don't touch it if you cant warranty it. There are land mines, but professionalism will see you through.

That said, not every part in a gear needs to be replaced at rebuild. The reason is there are parts known to outlast the vehicle. I know a guy who even reuses clutch packs if good, and still warranties for 3 years! Why take out good clutches and then battle to achieve specified clearance?

Three years ago, I would replace all parts found in a kit but today, I know better. Some solenoids are indestructible. Stepper motors in CVTs hardly ever die. Some gears only need a valve replaced, or a bore resized. Some, like ZF need solenoid replacement only, while others need the solenoid bushing replaced. These small repairs would add thousands of miles to the gear, and cheaper than a used gear.

Some fixes are cheap, some are not. Now I'm learning minimum standard grin
do you fix gears? If you do, I would be needing your services
