in 2012 fuel subsidy was removed and a litre sold for about 141 to 150 naira. The idiots in power today protested and the subsidy removal was reversed. Today fuel is sold for 145 naira and the clowns are still talking about subsidy. 1 Like |

PrecisionFx: The consequences would be that the price of anything that is transported be it; water, food, clothes, drugs etc and all services will increase. There will also be fresh demand for increase of salary because the so called increase that is meant to start by May 2019 was to measure cushion the effect of the former increase from 87-145. At least the President has already told Nigerians to brace-up for the impact. Welcome to next level. We will all suffer before we enjoy later. |

This conversation coming up again from IMF/ World Bank/ Managers of Nigerian economy. Hmmmmm. My submissions is that the reason why China will continues to be great and great is becos the country called China will always do the exact opposite the Economic capsule or prescription coming from IMF while that Africa largest black called Nigeria will forever be doomed for always swallowing this economic pills from them including S.A.P. When are we going to develop our own grown economic model. Or why do we have Economic course being taken in our university or The schools are Mushroom. Abeg 2 Likes |

Even if Buhari hikes fuel prices to N500 per litre (with subsidy), destroys the economy, kills off our healthcare, in fact takes us back to 1914, you'd never see a protest like we saw in Sudan against him. Conduct another election, he'd get millions of votes effortlessly 1 Like |

In June 2015 when electoral capital was at its peak, when faces were freshest, when the now famous 'body language' was the national song, when the air of invincibility was storming.... when 'rapture' was about to take place and the chants of 'messiah' rented the air....then.... it would have been possible, perhaps even desirable together with the other tough structural economic decisions such as floating the naira and privatising the NNPC (government oil interests). But we all knew it was not possible then due the origins of this government particularly the propaganda surrounding fuelsubsidy and the crippling corription of the previous administration manifested in everything from the putroght denial of subsidies made by the present Petroleum Minister to the sibsody removal protests the ruling party was massively involved in during its opposition hey days. It was too much an embarrassement to do an immediate volte-face so the nation has steadily economically bled into a coma. Now the chickens are home, debt is crippling, smugglers are cashing in billions and the tax payer is subsidising petrol used as far off as Njamena and Yaounde while he is heaping foreign debts to the billions by the day. If subsidy has been removed piecemeal the least we will have achieved would be a 50 percent cut, probably saved some half trillion naira but more importantly the worst of the adjustments will be gone by now, withdrawal symptoms will have abated, high inflation will have begun to fall. Best of all the investment required to create a viable, virile industry will have berthed our shores. The figures will have been attractive enough to spur new, independent refining capacity. It is never late but the reality of the situation is that it will be very hard to implement now and very hard to swallow. If a sick man elects to do a costly surgery to live, it will be hard enough for the family to bear. If he is persuaded to do it after years of costly chemotherapy that has failed you can imagone how devastated the family will be..... then just pray that after the surgery he doesn't succumb to death....hmmm 1 Like |

freeman67: unending suffer before enjoyment. so when will the enjoyment come. my parents suffered austerity so that i can enjoy when am grown up, my parents also suffered S.A.P so that i can enjoy when am grown up, and so many other economic sufferings. all those are just for me to enjoy when am grown up. as u can see am now grown and am supposed to be enjoying, but these clowns at the helm of affairs in our country are asking me to endure and suffer so that my own children will enjoy. what rubbish. what cycle of suffering. they dont mean well for us. given my experience, whats the guaranty that my children will enjoy when i finished another round of suffrering |
