We thank God for D'banj who sang that love is a beautiful thing. It truly is but when that love is not reciprocated, it can be very hurtful.

Once upon a time, you two were so in love but suddenly, the attraction grew cold on his part. And then one day, he said it was over. However, you feel like the relationship still has a future. You are very much still in love. But you cannot force him to stay in a relationship.

You have to get over it; but how?

1.) Love yourself

I know that it sounds like a cliché but it holds so much truth that people throw the phrase around. You have to love yourself enough to decide that you can't afford to settle for less, and definitely not a man that doesn't love you.

2.) Invest in yourself

I am not saying that should become driven just to spite him. However, being single gives you room for self-discovery. Dedicate your time to accomplishing your life goals and pursuing a passion. Get in touch with your spirituality.

3.) Give vent to your emotions

You are human and the person you love just walked out of your life. You are allowed to be hurt, angry and sad. Express what you feel but ensure that this does not dominate your life. Don't become weepy.

4.) Stay away from reminders

Wherever you used to go together or things you used to do should become 'no-go areas'. You don't need the reminders

5.) Remind yourself that there are others

You don't feel like being in a relationship with anyone else right now but constantly remind yourself that there are other guys out there who are just as wonderful. Don't close your heart to love altogether.

It may not feel like it today but you will be fine.
